Who: Delirium fishy_go_byebye, and Romeo majestic_blue are the hosts What: A small garden party When: Friday night Where: A garden Rating: PG-13? Just to be on the safe side.
Peter was coming, Adam was fairly certain, but he'd wandered down to the party himself. For a few moments, he hung in the shadows beyond where the lights twinkled. The colors were amazing and beautiful and unlike anything he'd really seen before. A real smile tugged his lips. He might have been perfectly happy to kill off most of humanity, but that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy this spectacle and the idea of meeting his intriguing hostess.
Who he clearly needed to find a puppy for.
His eyes searched the party, picking out the girl he was sure had to be Del, and noting Elle was present as well, before he finally stepped out into the lights, smile settling to just the barest hint of a turning up of his lips, eyes generally watchful, as per usual.
Del paused in her created activity that kept her circulating to lay eyes on Healing, who had just stepped out of his oh-so-concealing shadows. She smiled a little smile and started weaving her way over to say hello. She didn't weave quickly, in case he wanted to talk to someone, but move she did. It was kind of worrying. Talking to all of these people was one thing, but having them meet her was something else entirely. Not everyone reacted well...
Taking a deep breath, and tugging at the fishnet parts of her dress she stopped in front of him and smiled up. "Welcome to the gardeny party?"
Adam tilted his head to study her, curious to finally see her in person, not just her writing and voice through the journal. All the colors were so very different than what hew as used to in a world without magic, a world where his kind of people were the most extraordinary ones. Peter had told him things were different, and he was learning what truly extraordinary meant, but it was still enough to widen his eyes and tug a brighter smile to his lips.
There had been so very little new in his life in centuries, and Del was different, she was new.
"Thank you very much for inviting me," he said with a slightly teasing grin, giving her a bit of a courtly bow. "It is extraordinarily beautiful."
Oh, Del wasn't new. She was OLD. So very very old and always doomed to be the youngest of all. It was so confusing, sometimes. Everything made sense, and then suddenly the entier world was broken and wrong and distant and impossible to understand. Things had been so nice lately, Del felt something bad creeping in. Something horrible that was going to end up in pieces everywhere. But not now. Del was damned if it was going to be any time nowish.
"Healing is welcome. And he likes it?" She looked around at the colours and the lights and smiled. She had made light, and it was good~
Although part of him would've loved just sitting on the roof alone, Peter had decided to come to Del's party after all. He loved Del like a sister and wouldn't have missed something like this for the world. Adam had already beat him there and was with Del. That brightened him up considerably, and he hurried to join them.
"I'm glad to see you two have met," he said with a pleased nod.
Adam looked up at Peter's approach, a bright smile flashing across his face for a moment as he met the boy's eyes, before it slipped back into his more careful expression.
"We've been chatting quite a bit via the journals, but I was glad for the chance for actual interaction," he told him.
Giving Del a small smile, he glanced around the party and back to her. "I like it very much," he told her, answering her earlier question. "It's unlike anything I've ever seen, and that's saying quite a bit."
Del grinned when Absorby man came in. It was being perfectly perfect. The people were showing up and liking it and Del was very excited. Exxxxxcited. Ex. Exes... Eh eh eh...
Shaking herself a little out of wherever she had gone, she smiled at the pair of heroes in front of her. It was good, to see them. They were both very nice. In fact, Lectricity was very nice too. It seemed everyone from their world had redeeming qualities. Of course, Del had never been good at telling the difference between the human ideas of right and wrong or good and evil. Made for some very interesting friends.
Nodding decisively, She took one of each of their hands and led them a bit further into the party, smiling as she went. "The party has things..."
Adam smiled a bit at the touch of her hand. Even just friendly touches had been so rare for a while. Elle and that was about it. Peter touched, occasionally, but there was always an undercurrent, for him, where this was just...innocent and friendly and he felt himself relax a bit more just at that...well, not human exactly, but person-to-person contact.
Isolation could be hell, he decided, leaving him with weaknesses he didn't fully understand.
"I like the fish," he volunteered, smiling at the girl. They're amazing."
"They sing~" She said, waving one down towards the three of them and petting along its back before shooing it closer to Healing. The fishy nudged up close, still pipping the music out of somewhere while Del kept talking. "Lectricity hums, too. It tells stories. Bad stories..."
Beaming at the two, she continued to lead them closer to the food area.
Adam was fascinated by the fish, eyes widening as he studied it, listening to it. The mention of Elle pulled his focus back a bit, though, a frown tugging at his brows. "Very bad stories," he agreed, thinking of some of what he knew she'd been through.
Then the fish caught his attention again. "How does it do that?"
"Thrumming. Vibrations go through. The humming helps her sleep and Del thinks she likes it too... He can pet it~" She volunteered for the fishy, chewing on a nail while her hair shortened on one side and turned red purple blue.
Adam blinked at the change in her hair, opening his mouth to ask how she did that, too, and then wondering if it would be rude. Rudeness in general didn't usually bother Adam, but he was at least trying to behave. Curiosity got the better of him as he flitted up a finger on his free hand and traced it over the fish, shooting her another look.
"They sometimes are Del and sometimes Del has to be fishies and sometimes when Del is fishies its good but it was bad and Del thinks that girl should have been fishies for a while. Cuz the butterflies fly away sometimes."
Eyes glazing over with a vague smile still fixed on her face, Del continued to debate the merits of making her shadow come back from where it had gone with the kitten while explaining about the singing pieces.
Peter was impressed. Adam was catching on to Del's odd way of speaking very quickly. Of course, Peter had done the same, but he always figured it was part of his power. But Adam was doing fine; Peter didn't even have to translate anything yet.
Usually Peter was good around parties. But this time... he was okay with just sitting back and listening. And sticking close to Adam, of course. "Del's very special," he mentioned to Adam. "And Absorby man will always come to save her."
Adam probably could have used translation of the last bit, but he nodded like he understood and didn't want to seem as if he didn't, still trailing one finger back and forth across the fish.
He gave Peter a bit of a smile, eyes searching to see how he was, truly, before nodding. "Well, that's what heroes do."
