Lucy closed her journal, capped her pen, and put them both in the little cloth bag she'd got to carry them around for circumstances like these--not that they came around very often. Harry was still out, so she left him a note explaining where she was going, then gave Harriet the kitten a fond scratch on the head and left their room.
She ended up sliding all the way down to the first floor, courtesy of the staircase's new look. Lucy dusted herself off and made for the front doors. She was looking forward to meeting Sam; she hadn't attempted to socialize in person with anyone not a Time Lord since Peter Carlisle. That dampened her mood slightly. She still missed him.
But she shook it off. Lucy was, overall, very happy these days. She'd been taking more care with her appearance since her husband's return--she was wearing dresses again (a nice summery wrap dress, in this case) and she'd pulled her hair back into a loose chignon.
She turned the corner, smiling to herself... and then stopped. Harry was standing by the doors, but wearing an extremely unattractive 70s-era ensemble rather than the black suit he always wore, and looking as if he was waiting for someone. Surely not...
