As soon as the door came off it's hinges, sand was making a wide arc towards the intruder, climbing up the walls and-

falling back to the clean floor. Eventually Gai would have to learn that making sudden, unexpected and seemingly dangerous entrances into the room of someone who had been raised while waiting between assassination attempts was an incredibly bad idea. ... Of course, after having known the man closely for a month or so, Gaara could tell there wasn't much of a chance of that happening.

He swallowed while Shuukaku thrumed angrily in his head as the sand came drifting back to his feet from across the floor without being drenched in blood first. It didn't matter, because he was distracted from the bubbling bloodlust in the pit of his stomach by the incredibly odd picture Gai painted.

Gaara watched the man for an incredulous moment, not bothering to process the words that were coming out of his mouth. It was generally just a better idea not to think too hard about it when things like this happened. He had enough of a headache from Shuukaku's sudden return as it was.

"Gai," he greeted, deadpan, from where he had been sitting at his desk, flipping through his journal. He shut it mildly and stood up.
