Lucifer walked through the castle grounds in a calm, but unhesitating pace. The place was relatively deserted, as most people were attending the ball; and Lucifer intended to use the opportunity for investigations. Any clue, however small, would be useful in order to further assess his current situation.

It was unnerving enough that he'd been turned human. He wasn't disturbed by it, per se - he had been human for a while, and without so much as a body even longer; but still, he was originally an angelic being (could not deny the fact that high demons were more related to angels than to the lower demons native to Hell, either), and thus the absence of power from his wings humming gently in his shoulder blades kept him on edge, if nothing else. He would be quite glad if this turned out to be a temporary state ( ... )

Alexiel’s opinion about metaphors wasn’t too positive. She didn’t have the slightest interest in poetic notions and nostalgia. To her, the Garden had become ashes from a bonfire she had fed not too long ago, when she recovered the beat of her wings and the encompassing power on the tips of her fingers that had been long sealed by her Father.

To be nearly impotent, looking for an exit in another garden wasn’t amusing her. It was making her murderous. She didn’t want history repeating itself. It was enough suffering, enough tears. No more thorns, no more struggle.

She had fought for her freedom too long to be denied now.

Turning on a corner while impatiently surveying the fairies that illuminating the green bushes around her was a bad idea…for she didn’t see the man that was walking just before her.

Lucifer almost missed the sounds of the steps behind him and was almost ticked off at how used he'd gotten to his angelic senses. Which was only natural, of course - even as human, he'd never quite lost his feeling for astral oowers and auras - but this environment obviously required some readjustment on his part. Not exactly pleasant news, but in this case, he'd rather give in to the necessary than regret it.

He whirled around and stood face to face with Alexiel.

It wasn't especially inconvenient, but he'd had no desire to meet her, either. Claiming him far from empathy would be quite the understatement, but he was also far from stupid, and he had an inkling she wasn't in the mood for their usual fights.

Lucifer stood, moving neither away nor towards the angel. His face betrayed no emotions.

He would leave the first words to her.

She knew he was there before her eyes saw him. There was someone with her in the garden and it had to be him. It was their Alpha and their Omega; the source of everything about them.

Alexiel stopped her path and watched him blankly. Her lips formed a neutral line, eyes dark and unreadable as she stared at the former Demon Lord with detachment. Was he the obstacle on her path once more or a welcome ally this time again?

He expected her to talk first? What a fool.

And so she stared and stared back at him and made no signs of opening her mouth to speak. So it was like that. Lucifer exhaled quietly; he was a little too impatient to play games of stubbornness right now. Not that he had any idea of why, but he'd never concerned himself much with such things.

So he would concede and address her first - and say what? He saw no need for words. There was no reason for them to communicate.

Well, he supposed their first physical meeting in this place warranted a greeting - considering what kind of place they were in, no less.

"And thus, a new cage has found the bird."
