Lucifer walked through the castle grounds in a calm, but unhesitating pace. The place was relatively deserted, as most people were attending the ball; and Lucifer intended to use the opportunity for investigations. Any clue, however small, would be useful in order to further assess his current situation.

It was unnerving enough that he'd been turned human. He wasn't disturbed by it, per se - he had been human for a while, and without so much as a body even longer; but still, he was originally an angelic being (could not deny the fact that high demons were more related to angels than to the lower demons native to Hell, either), and thus the absence of power from his wings humming gently in his shoulder blades kept him on edge, if nothing else. He would be quite glad if this turned out to be a temporary state.

Lucifer, too, had chosen to go with the clothing his closet had so generously provided, albeit grudgingly - better than the silly uniform, in any case. There'd been a cape, even, and he'd mustered some slight appreciation for that, even though the whole idea had him suspicious, as did everything about this place.

The irony of the castle being placed in the midst of a lush garden did not escape him. It was something like Alexiel's personal metaphor, and thus, in a way, his as well. Though, for him, not entirely unfortunate - the Garden had been where their journey together started. Symbol of their imprisonment, but also the beginning of their liberation.

How very unfortunate that metaphors seldomly repeated themselves outside of books and curses.
