The Doctor lets the journal fall from his grasp after he writes his last response, the pen following suit.
He's sitting on a bed. There are two in this room; on this one, the bedspread is one of vines and vibrant flowers. On the other, desert flowers beneath a rising sun.
That was Erimem's. This must be Peri's.
He was wandering when he found the room; he doesn't know if he was looking for it or not, but here he is, and he can't bring himself to leave.
Peri must have preserved everything that made it Erimem's home as well; it must have hurt terribly, to see it all. He wonders if he was able to comfort her. He decides he probably wasn't.
He only recognises half of it now. He'd lost them both.
As he waits, he closes his eyes and tries to forget, and to remember.
As always, it is futile.
