Chavez watched the man's face carefully. It was obviously and definitely different from a human's, but still it wasn't hard to interrupt. Getting around the aesthetic differences in the face the expressions were more or less the same of that of a human. He began to catalog the expressions he saw without consciously thinking about it
( ... )
Donnie had a small laugh at Ding's 'dream' exclamation. If that wasn't familiar...
"Maybe you got attacted by a clan of ninja thieves in a subway station? And you saw a rat in the parking lot." The turtle made his face serious as he said all this, before allowing a large grin to spread. "Wishing you were dreaming of Harrison Ford, yet?"
Ding's eyes lit up with amusement and a small smirk spread at the mention of ninjas and rats. Now that's a dream, he thought to himself. He showed curiousity--where did that come from?--but kept the joke running.
"Harrison Ford? Why not? I'd probably have to save his ass though, always playing presidents and whatnot. I do things like that sometimes..." he grinned, and his expression was something to make a person wonder if he was really joking or seriouslly speaking the truth.
Chavez chuckled lightly and just smiled "sweetly" in reply.
He sobered up and glanced at the coffee machine a moment later. He felt like a child, but he had to ask. "Is it done yet?" he asked to the sing-song like cadence of the well known phrase "are we there yet?".
Donnie laughed loudly along with Ding; who said Army guys had no senses of humor? "Here, I think it's done," he said between chuckles, sliding the pot over to Chavez.
Ding grinned brightly at that. He grabbed his cup with his right hand and threw it with a flip into the air. As his left hand caught the cup his right grabbed the pot up and he started to pour himself some of the brew. The 'fancy' action was really quite natural and he didn't even notice he did it.
Finished, he set the pot back down and slid it back over. "Thanks," he said, taking a first, tentative sip.
Not one to be outdone (growing up with brothers tends to do that), Donatello tossed his own cup in the air. The mug rotated several times in the air while the turtle did a few quick hand forms that Master Splinter taught him and his brothers some time ago, finishing off with sticking his hand out, palm down, and letting the coffee mug land on the back of his hand.
"Your welcome," he replied with a cheeky smile as he started to pour himself some of the brew.
Ding watched, only half amused and slightly impressed. He arched a lone eyebrow.
Shaking his head, hiding a smirk inside the rim of his cup, he took another careful sip and tried thinking of something to talk about. He failed with the latter but managed not to burn his tongue with the former and continued to drink with a bit more haste. "Mmmm, life itself."

Donnie 'snrked' at Chavez. "Do what? Save presidents or dream about Harrison Ford?"
