[A week rolls round and Angela's back to normal, feeling more than a little awkward about the whole thing. She'd forgotten what it was like to be that young, and she wasn't sure if she misses how trusting she used to be able to be, or was given more of a reminder of how stupid she used to be in the past. What she was annoyed about, however, was ( Read more... )

Just checking. [a pause] Mom, about all that... I wanted to ask you something.

[thinks back to some of the things she'd said, and knows that this could be anything, but nods]

What is it, Peter?

How come you've never mentioned your sister to us before?

[a bit of a sigh, and closes her eyes as she speaks]

Because for a very long time, Peter, I thought she was dead.

When I was sixteen years-old, my sister and I were brought to a facility called Coyote Sands, where they were studying people like us. My ability was subtle, not dangerous by any means, but my sister -- we hadn't realized it at the time, but she could manipulate the weather with her emotions.

One night, myself and several friends I'd met at the facility -- Charles Devereaux, Elle's father, Daniel Linderman -- had snuck out, away from the guards. While we were gone, my sister panicked in one of her sessions with the doctors, and used her ability to attack them. As a result, the guards panicked, and they -- they killed all the people with abilities that were there.

I'm sorry, Mom. So... is that why you all founded the Company? To keep something like that from happening again?

Exactly. In some aspects we failed, but -- we did the best we could for the time that we had.

[a bit of a sigh]

We did what we could to try and protect you, Peter. Even if it didn't seem like it.

I know, Mom. It's okay. From what I've heard, things turn out all right in the end.

From what Claire has said, yes. Things do seem to pan out.

[and she suddenly misses Nathan. Not that she didn't already, but -- moreso]
