Sorry, mate, but you'll find this place doesn't care for what you were doing at the time.

I imagine that is true, seeing as how I am here against my will.

As is everyone. Don't know how much you've been told already, but you're here for the foreseeable future. Welcome to Paradisa.

A passing strange welcome, though at least I am not in chains. Visible ones, in any case...

[A word of advice? Don't trust the magical, talking book. Ever.

But he reminds her of someone. A friend she's made here. Call it idle curiosity, but she'll reply.]

I'm not sure anyone does.

[... Which is probably the closest thing to information you'll ever get out of her.]

[A woman's voice? Unexpected, though it doesn't exactly mean she's innocent]

You mean to tell me that in a castle full of people, there is no one with any answers?

Answers aren't easy to come by.

[And based on her experiences, he's only seen just the beginning.]

[Durge makes a rumbling 'humph' that passes for a note of agreement]

They can be costly things, to be sure.

That does not mean I will not seek them all the same, though I'm not sure what luck I will have.

Nothing that happens to me is ever convenient.

[THERE IS NO RESTING]

If no one knows how or why we are, how is it that they know such a thing is true?

Give up, Knight. You've been brought here to weaken your fair lady and you've failed her completely. Your life meant more than you believed... [An affected little gasp.]

[If there was any chance of him buying into that, it was ruined quickly with that piece of melodrama.

Durge growls softly at the voice]

Shows how little you know. Grace may be a woman of heart, but she knows her duty just as I.

Grace is an upstart little chit just like any other woman.

Do you hold women in so little regard?

[She's suddenly reminded of Haldir and smiles. That sort of unswerving devotion is not as common as it ought to be.]

Yet what a knight she has lost-to think first of his duty, even in such circumstances.

[He can tell just by this woman's tone that she is nobility. He's gained a keen ear for such things over the years]

My duty is always to her, my lady. What is a knight without the strength of his word?

Very little, I should think, yet even the stoutest of sworn hearts may waver. You need not worry, however; I have good reason to believe your responsibilities will await you still when you return.
