I feel you are not someone who would say such things lightly, I will answer what I can.

And you have my thanks for that. May I ask, first, the manner in which you know of what is to be and the degree of control you possess?

The visions often come to me when I sleep, as such I do not have much control of them. I have only forced a vision once while awake during dire circumstances, though it caused me a great deal of pain to do so.

[That...sounds rather awful. She wonders briefly if she might be able to help with that, but she's hesitant to even bring it up until she knows more.]

They come unbidden more oft then not, then. [That rules out a number of questions she would have asked.] Have these visions been altered in your time here, in frequency or potency?

[ It was truly a unpleasant experience--something she will not do again anytime soon. ]

Being here has not changed the frequency of my visions, [ As they only began to diminish after she began wearing the bracelet Morgause left her constantly.] only to potency I believe. Sometimes I am assaulted by blurry images and sounds that I cannot understand, leaving me with nothing but questions and a sick feeling in my stomach.

As if all is seen through a veil of mist and shadow. [It's less a question than a statement.]

Yes, it is exactly as you say.

If it is not too bold, I would ask also if this is what you have lost to castle or if it is in addition to it. [You don't have to tell her what your loss is. Goodness knows she'll never tell you hers.]

It is not. [ A pause. ] My piece is not connected to my vision, or my magic in any way.

Then the castle has seen fit to limit your visions for its own purposes. It does comfort me somewhat that I am not alone in that.

As it does me. [ More than she can probably put into words. ]

Have you had this gift from birth? You will have had little guidance in it, I imagine.

Yes I have, although in the beginning I thought them nothing more than night terrors.

[There's a long pause while she thinks.]

It troubles me, I will admit, to think you have spent much of your young life ill-equipped to deal with such things.

There was little anyone could do without putting both our lives in danger. If the king got wind that his ward dreams of future events, not even the promise he made my father would have protected me.

You face no such obstacle here. [And, yes, that is a sort of half-formed offer hanging in the air.]
