[Filtered to Doctors only]

[even after he's made the filter, he's silent for several long minutes. It's only after a long pause and a disgruntled huff that he actually bothers to speak up]Okay...fine. I promised a few people I'd do this, so...here goes nothing. But I need someone to check out a medical condition that may or may not be sticking ( Read more... )

[There are a few places Brennan knows to find him by now. And with little to do in the lab, she's feeling restless.

Even though she probably shouldn't, she comes to the shooting range with that gun Booth had lent her during the Isis crisis. She smiles when she sees him already there and waits till he finishes his round to walk over.]

Hey.

[however unsettled his doctor call makes him, the sight of her makes him smile...light, genuine smiling.

Carefully clicking the safety into place, he'll holster his gun without even looking at his target]

Hey! Wasn't expecting you out here, too.

[It's funny how his smile easily triggers her own. It's nothing new, a habit that's only gotten worse the longer she's known him.

She walks over and, after looking around to make sure no one else is about, leans in to kiss him. The kiss is quick, all things considered, but still deep with emotion.]

I think I can grow very fond of doing that.

[he saw that glance around, at first not realizing exactly what she's intending. After the kiss, though...well...there's enough defiance in him that he doesn't let her pull far away when she starts to step back, pulling her in to kiss her again, lips lingering just a bit longer. After all...what did they have to hide?

...especially since he was pretty sure Sweets and Angela didn't visit the shooting range] I think I'm already fond.

[he does let her go, though. Actually considering her presence] I'm surprised you're not in the lab. [she'd been spending so much time there, lately] Got your squint squad trained already?

[Amelia's not looking to vent stress--anything more than normal, anyway. Mostly she wants to keep up her skills, and get used to shooting again under her own will. Bad memories of her body moving, firing her gun completely outside of her control have a habit of lingering, and that can throw off a shot at a critical moment. Better to get it out of her system before that happens.

Seeing Booth might not help Amelia with that goal, however. She stops when she notices the other shooter; unlike most men, Amelia's not actually inclined to ignore him. No, given the choice between submitting to the awkward feeling in her gut, or actually doing what she came here for? Amelia opts for the latter.]

[he lowers his gun as he finishes another round, pausing to critically appraise his target, before he turns to acknowledge the other shooter. There's a small smile of recognition, and no wariness. If anything, there's a bit of careful concern there. He hadn't been able to check on her since the mess with Legato and Joshua]

Amelia. Long time no see.

Yeah. Same to you.

[Well, Booth isn't acting like Amelia's going to shoot him. She'll take that as a plus, along with the fact that he's standing on his own two feet, and at the shooting range--doing really damn well, given the state of his target.]

You're a good shot. Is that part of being in the FBI?

[Safe topics. Sort of.]

Part of it. I was a sniper for the army before I was an agent, though. It's sorta my thing.

Getting in some practice?

My name's Helen Magnus. Although I'm not officially working at the clinic I could examine you if no one else was available to?

[his answer comes late...and a little begrudging despite the fact that he's the one who asked in the first place]

This place is a little shy on doctors who aren't working with wands in their hands, so...I'm not gonna be picky.

[yet. Not until they actually want to do anything to his head]

So you're a doctor, Helen?

[ Best she doesn't tell him too much on her job, then ]

I am, yes.

[he doesn't mean to be prejudiced. He just...is. A little.]

[...he knows this won't work if he doesn't fess up about what this is really about. But he's putting it off for as long as he can]

So... if you're not in the clinic, how were you wanting to do this?

[Not that she's on her way to the range, but the way to the range is on her way away from something else. She's always running anyway.

When she spots him, her head tilts... because there's something different. He's built differently, carries himself differently -- definitely does the hair differently.

She'll just stand there and stare at him.]

[he might be away from his career, but he hasn't gone soft. He realizes pretty quick that he's being watched. When he does, he doesn't immediately clue in that he's noticed. He reaches under his suit jacket to pull the journal free, as if he's just received a message or forgot to check something, and carefully scans the area around him looking for his observer]

[It's really weird. She'd heard a few things about people who looked like other people, but this is damn eerie. It's like Angel... if Angel wasn't himself.

She'll keep staring, her brow furrowing a bit. She does at least start to move from that spot, not wanting to block the flow of traffic.]

[one eyebrow arches. She looks vaguely familiar, but the last time he'd seen her, she hadn't been staring at him with so much confusion.]

Is there something on my face?
