Guess I haven't really introduced myself properly yet... how should I say this...

I'm Ryotaro Dojima, a... detective with the Inaba PD. --Inaba, Japan.

From the sound of it some of you have been looking after my daughter, Nanako? [a bit of an awkward pause, but then his voice is filled to the brim with sincere warmth:] I can't really thank you ( Read more... )

[Same feeling he got when he woke up from a particularly rowdy night at the bar only to realize Nanako had somehow gotten his futon ready for him: guilt.]

Nanako. [...he gives up trying to think of something better to say and laughs a little to himself] Good morning. [What time is it, really? Does his watch even work here?]

Well, alright. But if you need any help you call me right away.

[Actually, there were a lot of reasons he wanted to go. He's still a little weirded out letting Nanako wander around this place alone, but he's starting to have to admit she's got the hang of this place better than he has.

Mostly, he just... doesn't know what he's supposed to do. The mystery surrounding them, keeping them from their real home, shames him-- as both a detective and a father. He knows a little better than to run off and leave Nanako alone while canvassing every floor of this stupid castle looking for a crook to punch the tar out of, but... old habits die hard.

Maybe it's a good thing Nanako's out right now, though. He could just imagine Nanako imploring him to "stop fighting" with Adachi... and he didn't want to scare her with any heavy talk about the obvious mass kidnapping case they were wrapped up in.

But whenever Nanako gets back, she might find her dad anxiously loitering just outside their door waiting for her, like a big smoking mother hen.]

[haha, she's gone long enough for him to finish his business with Adachi... but not for much longer than that. Knowing that her Dad is finally awake is good enough reason to completely rush through grabbing clothes from the dryer (she can fold them later) and hurry back to the room. And when she sees him standing out there a big smile just lights up her face. There's something homey and safe and wonderful about knowing her Dad is awake and here.

So she hurries over to him and looks him up and down.]

Um, are you hungry? You were asleep for a really long time... A-Are you okay?
