In the hallway :3 black_dog_bite September 7 2011, 04:27:51 UTC
[The sound of Jet's boots splashing lightly in water startles him as he wanders the hallway, his journal tucked away in his pocket. But that light splash is drowned out by that hammering. As Jet looks for she source of the sound. He stops in his tracks when he sees that all-too-familiar fluff of green hair atop a long, lean frame. Still a few yards away, he mumbles something to himself.]

I don't believe it...!

[That's one voice Spike wasn't expecting to hear again. He pauses mid-hammering to glance over his shoulder. ... Well, how about that.]

Hey.

Now I've seen everything! First Faye, now you?
Any other surprises I'll find around here?

[Of course, he's ecstatic to see you here.]

[Not that Spike isn't, but he's had a confusing week. It takes him a minute to put together what's going on here.]

Don't remember anything, huh?

[Mark's avoiding his room as much as he can, now that he's managed - somehow - to get out of there and away from his persona. wandering around just leads to more thinking, though, and eventually he realizes he needs to get out of his own head.

the first thought his impulsive teenage brain has is, naturally, to go into someone else's. he opens the first door he sees when he thinks of it, and wanders inside.]

Whoa. ... Okay. Goin' up ...?

[and since he's got nothing better to do, he starts toward the stairs...]

[Just be glad there aren't any talking frogs to trip him on the steps; especially when the rain starts to fall. Maybe all that water outside was a hint to bring an umbrella...]

Holy shit! ... Um. ... Umbrella? Maybe? [he hopes wishing still works in these rooms ...]

[The umbrella appears, so something must be working. The rain doesn't seem that offended though; it's just starting up. The higher he chooses to go, the harder it comes and the darker it gets.

Hopefully he has good shoes on. All that wet marble is bound to get slippery.]

[Spike might hear the chime of jewelry, the slap of bare feet through water and the glide of silks through puddles. Ashura looks about him, the tips of his hair wet.]

Spike?

[There's really only one person he knows who dresses like that on a daily basis, so he could guess before turning around. ... He should probably make up a sign cautioning about wet floors. The ghosts have to mop sometime, right?]

Yeah? [He can't get this door nailed shut fast enough if he's going to have to keep making up stories about it.]

What are you doing?

[He stops behind him, blinking at the water sliding out beneath the door and down the hallway.]

[Hey, it's not his fault his brain-room has a leak in it, it's the stupid castle's.]

I was just about to clean up. [He'll subtly slide over to cover the door, in case there's any temptation to see what's the other side...] How's it going with you?

[she wasn't going to look. She just wasn't. She just happened to be wandering past the door when she just happened to notice that it was... leaking. And some part of her might have been curious at that point, sure, because there could have been a flood behind that door. It could have been an emergency for all she knew. At that point, not looking would have been just irresponsible.

And responsibility is always such a high priority with her.

So, she investigates-- really only intending to take a peek. Just a couple steps. ...But then the door disappears as she begins to consider what a bad idea this might be]

--Oh. Damn.

[Remember why curiosity and cats don't mix? At least she can't be mad at him if she's the one that had to stick her nose in his brain room... or she can, but he'll have a good argument.

It's so dark inside that it's hard to tell what the hell she's looking at at first. Only when her eyes adjust to the light way up in the distance does the endless staircase stand out. Black marble slightly illuminated against black walls. It doesn't look too promising, but there's nowhere else to go.]

[she... really doesn't want to go up there. But, when groping around in the dark reveals no hidden door leading out, she finally begins her ascent-- feeling a little unsure on those slick marble steps]

You couldn't have had railings installed in your brain?

...If I break my neck in your head, you're going to pay.

[This is a day you don't want to be caught in heels, right? Speaking of slick marble steps, it starts to rain almost the instant she starts climbing them. Drizzling at first, but if the water pooling out into the hall was any indication, it's going to get a lot worse before it's over.

There's definitely no need to look for the symbolism here.]
