[ James exits Room 1613 of the Impetus Tower, finding it absolutely empty. There was no name plate on the room, so James felt that perhaps while the rooms wait for residents to arrive they would turn into useful things like janitor closets (although, James didn't think of it in terms like that - he suspected a broom closet or Filch's office) - and ( Read more... )

...Like, sweeping brooms or flying brooms?

Either, though I'd prefer normal brooms that I can charm to become flying brooms. I don't trust previous magic or the castle's magic.

Well, you can wish for brooms here! They can be any kind of brooms you want too: Regular, magical... you could probably even request different makes and styles and stuff. And... I've seen people riding on brooms that they wished up from the castle, and they seemed to be fine. Not that I know anything about any of this, but... just kinda what I noticed~

If you have seen it, I trust you. I just dunno about the castle, is all. It sends us onto ships. Who knows what it'd do with some brooms!

You ever flown on one before?

No, I haven't... I only saw Draco doing it a couple of times, and it never really occurred to me to ride one myself. You know, I'm usually in a skirt and all... that doesn't really seem like it'd turn out well, you know?

I've known a few girls who flew in a skirt, but they all said the same thing. [ ... Okay so maybe his memory is kind of shit there. ] Can't you wish up some shorts? Clothing shouldn't get in the way of feeling the wind in your hair!

W-Well, I probably could... but it's so hard to make shorts look good!

...And besides, I wouldn't wish them up, I'd make them.

[Said like it's the most obvious thing in the world.]

Make them! Are you a dress maker? [ Or a clothes designer. Gosh, James, get a dictionary/thesaurus. ]

Yes, I am! I designed and made everything I'm wearing now, for instance~

...Well, I suppose you can't really see what I'm wearing now. But, as a general rule, I design and make everything that I wear, especially here!

That's incredible! I don't know how to sew a button without charming the needle and thread to do it for me.

Did you make clothes for sale?

Well, I was planning on it back home... I wanted to be a designer, and I was almost certainly gonna be a seamstress... but then I came here, and... I mean, we only really work for something to do here, you know? Selling things is kind of... moot.

This castle confuses me when it comes to currency. Why are there businesses if there is no profit to be gained? I s'pose people around here have nice hearts.

You ever think of making dresses for people here?

Well, I've done more than think about it- I've done it! And I have a job here! I mean, I think the thing about working here is... we don't do it for the money. We don't need it. We do it because... well, it feels good to work. And it takes up some of our time- it would get so boring here if we didn't, you know??

It would. I'm kind of getting bored doing nothing, to be honest. No pranks, no meetings, nothing. It's odd. What do I do with all this time?

Where do you work? Maybe I should come visit and stir up some trouble. Show your boss how good of an employee you are. [ Super grin. This sounds like a plan. ]

Um... well, I don't really have a problem telling you, mostly, but, uh... what kind of trouble are you talking about?

[ He is stumped. ]

Oh, just having fun. Asking questions, touching things, talking very loudly about what an amazing employee you are.
