[Oh hey there. He knows a Ted, just had no idea who the hell this guy was. So there's a definite pause in terms of replying, before he'll eventually shrug and decide to investigate a little. Wasn't one for giving away information just because someone claims their a person's best friend, after all. Not that he had much to give.

Though he knew the castle was capable of taking away memories too, so it wasn't like he completely doubted everything Barney was saying. Just had to make sure it was the whole truth.]

Sorry to hear that, sir. [A pause.] What exactly do you want to know?

Well, anything, really. I'm not about to be picky, since Lily told me I'd known him for a few years before I ended up here. Have you talked to him? He's got dark hair, kinda spiky, just enough gel without being either ridiculously punk or very obviously gay.

[Rookie does sound a bit amused hearing that, but he otherwise gives a small shrug.]

Yes, sir. Talked to him a few times - met him when I got here, actually. Although I'm afraid I don't know much...

Just that he's an architect from New York and not a bad guy. Also doesn't seem to mind star gazing, since I found him on the roof a few weeks back.

That seems to be what I'm getting from everyone else, too. [sighs] Well ... thanks for your help, anyway.

So you're new, huh? What's your take on Casa de Crazy?

No problem, sir.

[Smiles. That was quite the interesting nickname for this place.]

Not that new, been here for a few weeks but... [Shrugs.] Seems relatively peaceful so far.

[Which meant boring to him. He was use to doing a lot more eventful stuff back home.]

Peaceful? Are you kidding m-- oh, wait. You know, for this place? It kinda has been. .... I give it a week or so. This is about the time of year all the kids start showing up.

[Head tilt, because now he was curious.] Kids, sir?

Yeah, kids. Every spring, some of the people here wake up and they've got a kid, out of thin air. Only, it looks like them, and either someone from home, or someone else from here, and they have to do the Family Circle thing for a week.

My bee-eff-eff, Ianto, he's got one that's come back a couple times.

[Oh geez, that's definitely something he wasn't looking forward to if that was true.]

Is there any common traits between the residents that get kids, or is it just random?

['Cause he wanted to make sure he had a somewhat decent chance of getting skipped over. Not that he had a problem with kids, just that he wasn't sure he'd excel at taking care of one.]

Ha, just that they're residents. It's like anything else - this place does what it wants.

[Sigh.] Great.

[So it all just came down to dumb luck then. Hopefully he wouldn't have to worry about that whenever the kid thing did happen, but it didn't make him like this place any further than he already did.]
