[There's a rise of brazen violin notes rising from the papers' folds. For those musically inclined, it's Bach. It isn't bad, exactly. Technique-wise, it's very exacting, but there's no passion in it at all, hitting each note as if it were simply a bump in the road to avoid. The player sighs in frustration, and hurls the bow as far from his body as ( Read more... )

[Damnit, Crowley, why are you all of these things?]

Excuse me? I've only got one contract and unless your name is Satan, then it's not with you.

[A rather embarrassing cry of alarm!]

Why I-
I filtered it-

That was not meant for you- it-

[World-weary sigh that doesn't match a thirteen-year-old at all.]

...Crowley, is that you?

So you are a demon... I had heard, but...

...Well, this is horribly awkward.
I'm afraid I was addressing my wayward contracted demon. Beg your pardon.

The journals and records go back several years. Even with brilliant minds and fierce witchcraft, no one has managed to wrench a way from this place. It seems the Castle is a cruel keeper.

Perhaps I shall reach that point. I do not enjoy being... [No, not helpless...]

Removed from control.

[Another sigh... He isn't about to be upset with her. It wasn't her fault.]

Forgive me. Perhaps I grow restless. Our free will remains, but it seems like little more than a goldfish inside a large, well-furnished bowl. There are still glass walls.

This place has been good to some. If I were to be candid with myself, my homeland would not fare me much better.

Hopeless... Ah, yes.

Rhyme. Like the musical notes? How charming. Ciel Phantomhive... Who, for his part, is rather ashamed you had to come to know me this way.

I am not accustomed to being so removed from control.

That was very pretty.

[A pause.]

I think maybe we have to make the best of what we have while we're here. Like each other.

[...Aw... I mean, humph.]

Each other? Ah. Don't trapped creatures begin to quarrel?

Sometimes. That's why we need to make sure we all work together.

Would you prefer a cage that you chose?

Mm. I was in one before. But it was my choice. I chose my cage, and my grim release from it. I'd far prefer that to an enigmatic keeper.

Did you prefer it because there was a chance of release?

demonlordling April 30 2011, 20:32:06 UTC
Yes. And even then, I dictated when I would be released and how, however dark.

Though I suppose the way things are, I would not be released at my homeland, either.

It is a damnable spiral.
