[With the weather finally improving, Kaylee’s gone out to the stables to work on her Mule. Except, after Valentine’s and Slenderman and how crazy things got, she’s finding that it’s hard to concentrate.

The journal, having flipped open on its own, picks up the sound of metal and mechanics for just a few minutes before she sighs and takes a break]

Spring will be nice. But...I pahh on your flowers. Manly men don't care about flowers.

[...clearly he feels she is in need of some goofy-Xander in her life]

[that gets a laugh]

I don't think the gardens care much whether manly men are lookin' for 'em or not. It'll still be nice to see 'em.

You doin' alright? You didn't get caught up in all that *zao gao did ya?

*crap

So what you're saying is....Xander is no match to the gardens and their flowers.

And yeah, I'm fine. I mean....really it depends what you mean with.... "all caught up". There was researching and...more researching and I was watching some backs at the exorcism...but mostly, there was the no-sleeping and lots of reading.

Were you hopin' to compete?

But no fightin'. That's good, at least. Seems like every time somethin' like this comes up, someone's off and lookin' to get themselves hurt.

I Will Endeavor To Have A Garden Started Promptly I Think
As The Season Seems To Be Warming This Would Be The Ideal Time

Havin' a spot of color around would be shiny.

...never really did a whole lot of gardening. There weren't really time for somethin' like that, back home. Or space for it. Is that somethin' that's terribly difficult?

Not So Much
At Least Not Insofar In My Experience
Its A Hobby Ive Pursued Since Wigglerhood Anyway
Really Half The Difficulty Is Avoided By Doing A Bit Of Observation And Choosing Plants That Suit Whatever Area Youd Like To Cultivate

Wigglerhood?

And bein' prepared ain't a bad idea. You learn right quick to make sure you look over things before you get goin' when workin' on machines, unless you're feelin' like having to take apart everything you've done and start all over, once you've gone and messed it.

Can't say I know much about plants. [BIGGEST LIE EVER] I'd imagine something would end up growin', seen as this place likes to look so pretty all the time.

Like a picture.

It ain't quite natural, but I s'pose that part of it don't bother me much.

You doin' okay, John? You weren't dragged into everything that's been goin' on, were ya?

Nothin' about this place is natural, those damned buffaloes are proof of that.

I just stay clear of trouble, you know me. Just been havin' a few quiet days is all.

It sure do seem difficult to find somethin' resemblin' normal, around here. You'd think we'd be used to it, by now, but it still seems all sorts of strange.

...I've been pretty quiet myself, I guess.

[He debates whether to say anything or not, since she didn't reply to him before. Maybe she still needs some space. Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained, as it were.]

Kaylee. I...trust that you are well?

Wes, hey!

...I ain't terrible. Ain't got no reason to be. I guess I just feel a bit outta sorts, after the castle pulls these *zheng-qi de gou-shi dui stunts.

You weren't hurt none, right?

*steaming crap pile

I can understand feeling out of sorts. And I hope I didn't compound that in any way.

I only suffered a few cuts and bruises. Nothing serious. What's important is that the children were recovered safely and the Slenderman is gone. For god, hopefully.

[a pause as she blinks at this] Why would you have been part of it? You ain't done nothin.

River was gettin' pretty frantic, towards the end of it. I'm glad we got 'em all back safe and sound.

[... Yeah, it has been a while. Nothing like a child-snatching demon to put a damper on wedding plans.]

How's it looking?

[a pause as she looks over the Mule, considering]

Honest?

I can't decide if she's worse'n what I remember... or if this ain't too bad. I keep changin' my mind, more I look.

[Awkward pause here. If it's one thing Spike knows how to do, it's break things...]

Too bad nobody thought to take pictures.

Guess it don't matter none, really. I'll get her workin' again.
