[With the weather finally improving, Kaylee’s gone out to the stables to work on her Mule. Except, after Valentine’s and Slenderman and how crazy things got, she’s finding that it’s hard to concentrate.

The journal, having flipped open on its own, picks up the sound of metal and mechanics for just a few minutes before she sighs and takes a break]

And yeah, I'm fine. I mean....really it depends what you mean with.... "all caught up". There was researching and...more researching and I was watching some backs at the exorcism...but mostly, there was the no-sleeping and lots of reading.

No, no fighting. I'll try as much as the next guy, but...while the next guy is in there kicking butt I'd probably be flying into a wall. It's my thing.

There ain't no shame in knowin' when to leave it to other folks. Me, I ain't really the fightin' type.

[there's a small pause] Oh, I'm shiny. I mean, it ain't like that thing was troublin' me or mine, really. But... it ain't somethin' that sits right, kids bein' snatched. And it really was gettin' to River, towards the end.

And I'm....not really the guy to let my friends go fight without me. Even if I'm....kinda useless in the end. [not easy for him to say, but he knows it's true.]

I think so. I mean, I wish Simon were here. He'd be able t'tell if she's got anything lingerin', but she seems t'be feeling worlds better, now it's all said and done.

There ain't much I can do. River is....River's special. She's crew, which is a bit like bein' family. But much as I want t'help her... much as we all do? We ain't her brother.
