[Soon, a wayward laser finds its way to your neck of the woods. Miraculously, it avoids hitting you... but only just.]

[Dude he felt the heat from that one! He ducks instinctively even though it missed, then stares at the hole it just burned through a nearby tree. Then, looks back the way it came, trying to figure out what's attacking him and ready to fry it the second he sees it.]

[It's a duck in a one wheeled mechanical suit trying to get some target practice in without her father finding out. Unfortunately... she hasn't landed a single hit on one of the targets she set up]

[It's a... what? What even is that thing, a person with a duck bill and a ... wheel instead of legs and ... yeah he is confused]

[ - and he ducks (lol) to avoid another shot] H-hey! Watch it!

[turns around] S-Sorry! I didn't see you, there!

[The voice startles him - it's a little girl? What the heck kind of thing is this? Anyway, he lowers his staff.]

It's all right, just... be careful, all right? There are people out here.

[sighs, visibly slumping a little]

Sorry... I'm not really very good at this, yet.

[sa;fklsj that's... unexpectedly cute. he feels kinda bad for almost frying her now.]

That's okay, um... everybody has to start somewhere.

[... cautiously approaches, hoping the laser will not go off accidentally or something. admittedly part of it is wanting to find out exactly what it is he's talking to.]

[No worries, she's good at NOT firing the lasers... it's just aiming the ones she fires that she has problems with]

Dad hasn't even really been letting me practice, here. Says it's too dangerous

[The suit looks like it's built for an adult, not the kid who's currently inside. She still has the visor down, so all he can see is her beak and two bright orange pigtails sticking out of the back of the helmet]

Well, he may have a point. There's so many people here, it's hard to find a safe place.

Hmm. [Ivan doesn't really answer, not wanting to take a side or anything. It's up to her dad, ultimately. Instead, he carefully reaches up to remove her helmet. Easier to ask forgiveness than permission amirite]

[rolls back a bit. Don't touch the suit, man. But she does flip the visor up so he can see her face.]

Yeah. He's Darkwing Duck! No one knows who he is, here, but he's the best hero St. Canard has ever seen!

[So... she really is a duck... and even the city is named after ducks... Give him a second, he's mildly boggled.]

Well, that's... that's good! If you're going to be stuck here, better to be stuck with family, right...?

Yeah. I don't know what I'd do if he wasn't here. It'd be a heck of a lot more scary, coming here alone.

I know what you mean. [he was pretty scared, too, and he's not even a kid. SHOCKING AS THAT IS...]

... Maybe you could get him to teach you? I mean, if he knows how to use that ... [gestures ineffectually toward the suit] ... thing.
