Well, I keep thinking I'm going to have a minute to update this, and then another urgent matter presents itself and I'm off on another rabbit trail. Better just take a moment and do it before the whole year flies by! ;^)
I spent most of last week working on the final production of our CD. We did the final mixing on Friday and Saturday so the CD was actually finished/born on January 7, 2006. Very exciting! Then I spent Sunday and Monday this week finishing up all the artwork with a friend and getting it off to DiskFaktory. That was quite the experience: at one time I thought that all my work had been for naught, and I just wanted to throw in the towel, but we kept pressing on and were finally able to use everything. Ah, sweet perseverance! I also spent quite a bit of time securing the few permissions we needed.
The balance of this week has been spent trying to get our concert planned. It's going to be so fun! I think we're just going to make it pretty laid back, kind of like we would if we could just have everybody over to our living room. We really don't want it to be about us so much as about all of the wonderful people we've met so I'll probably do a lot of blurting; hopefully, I won't embarrass myself too much and my wife even less. ;^) We're going to do some showtunes and some of our off-the-wall songs and skits and some of our sacred repertoire -- from the sublime to the ridiculous and back again, I suppose. I hope lots of people come! We ordered 100 copies of the CD to start out, and we're going to take orders when those run out and fill those orders at the $10 price, then it'll probably go to CDBaby at $12.
Reminder: Paraclete Productions presents Mike & Sandy Salsbury in a “Thank You & Farewell” concert Friday, January 20, 2006, at 7:00 PM, at Pettisville Missionary Church at the corner of Fulton County Roads D & 19. There is no admission; a love offering will be taken. Childcare provided for infants through pre-school. Come and help celebrate over 16 years of performance ministry in the tri-state area!
We have a huge speech meet in Sylvania this weekend, then next week the concert and a speech tournament at Notre Dame in Toledo, then it's just two weeks until I leave for PA! Still don't have a place to land there yet, but I will. Look! Here comes the next hill on the roller coaster.... Ahhhhhhhhh! This is so much fun!!! You guys gotta try this!
