and loving every minute of it when i'm not freaking out at how much was spent.
see... my dad rocks. he staked me the money to do a bulk order from a bead and jewelry supplier who offers an all-assortable rating system. the short version of what this system is is that whether you buy 50 different items or 50 of the same thing, you get the 50-149 units price-range. there are... 3 or 4 price ranges, i think. i ended up in the second-to-last price-range, with 180someodd units.
admittedly, 9 of those units were L-chan's items, but still! that's a LOT of beads.
now, this was a learning experience, so i've got some items to return and may end up with more, depending on how i end up feeling about the 6mm Czech glass faceted rounds for human-sized jewelry. currently they just feel too bulky and kind of cheap-looking, compared to the 4mm and 3mm. if i return them, that's a fair bit of change that i can convert into items i WILL use.
like earring cards, for jewelry packaging, possibly. i'm still bouncing that idea around.
what's going back:
a TON of clasps that were just too big, in two styles
a pack of metal findings (double-leaf drops, bigger than envisioned and while pretty, just not what i am looking for)
four strings of 2-tone Czech glass beads
i'm getting items to replace them:
a ton of clasps in the size i WILL use, in two styles
and more of two findings-items, little square drops and tiny little star-beads
i'm not sure what i will get if i decide i just don't like the look of the 6mm rounds. perhaps more of some of the colors i like. perhaps some of the colors i didn't get (specifically cobalt and lt cobalt.) perhaps more clasps. i'll probably do a mock-return to figure out what i would have for credit for all those beads and think it over.
still, i'm so excited! i got inserts for trays, and a display stand, and jewelry tags and u-pins and little black velvet bags. i got 50ft of really nice silver cable chain, and a bunch of really nice curb chain. i got 3mm jumprings in two different gauges, 4mm jumprings, oval jumprings in two sizes, a TON of headpins, a plethora of various drops, some assorted charms, and more Czech glass beads than you can shake a whole bunch of sticks at.
and i am so, so fried.
in other news, the job-hunt continues. and so does insomnia, which has been absolutely LOVELY lately. Oni is currently crashed out in my bed, and i am contemplating joining her, but at the same time, i am not a bit sleepy. this has been going on for days now, even after being so tired the night i made the mock-order and was up until after 1am staring at the computer entering URls to build the thing.
and i spent about 6 hours at the sink today, working on Sehti. he has been taken apart and completely, thoroughly sanded and is still in pieces. in the morning we'll pick up more styrofoam (Lucifer is in pieces as well) and both dolls will get sealed before Luz gets re-airbrushed and i do some minor scarring at Sehti's shoulders, hips, wrists, and ankles and take pics of Saxon with his new seed-bead bracelets and his lovely new silver rings...
and take pics of the samples i made for GothicGarnet yesterday.
um, yeah... busy much, me? nah.
