miami and things

Went to Miami last weekend. And then some. haha.

I flew out of boston on friday afternoon and got to Ft. Lauderdale around 6. the flights went fine and US Airways actually has little lcd screens that display questions from the trivia game Cranium which helped to pass the time between naps. Chris picked me up and then we went back to his house to relax for the night. His apartment is tiny but it's cute and works well for a single guy who's only going to be there for 6 months. We ended up staying in on Friday night because both of us were so tired after working (him) and running errands and flying all day (me). I cooked dinner after teasing him for only having ready-made meals in his house. I love boys that don't cook. He looked so much better now, he's gained some weight now that he's got money enough to spend on food and he's not living on ramen noodles.

Saturday we got up, went to breakfast and then went for a day trip around Ft. Lauderdale, Aventura and Downtown Miami. It is so gorgeous down there. I seriously could move down there and be happy for the rest of my life. The spanish architecture and the ultra modern luxury condo's actually do blend together well, and everyone down there is a little fountain happy, which is ok by me, since I love water fountains. haha. We mostly just drove around and I took a bunch of pictures. We spent most of the time picking out places we would love to live in when we're millionaires (ha!) and talked about what he plans on doing after he graduates next year (he has to decide if he wants to move back down to Miami for this company or not). We made fun of Donald Trump alot too since he apparently owns most of Miami. After all the cruising around, he took me out to dinner, then we went home and chilled out like geckos for the night. (I'm a little sad that I didn't get to see a gecko while I was there).

Sunday I was supposed to fly out in the evening so we just kept the plans simple for the day. I took him out to lunch and then we drove down to South Beach so I could go see Miami Ink. I really wanted to talk to one of the artists about an idea I have for my next tattoo but the line to get one done was 3 hours long and they were really busy and the place was packed so I chickened out and just went outside and took pictures of the shop. So basically that means I have to go Miami again in the next couple of months to get the tattoo done. But I'll definitely have to devote an entire day to it. Oh well. The guys in that shop are pretty so it'll make it easy. Before leaving South Beach though, we stopped in at a head shop, and each bought our first pieces. :) After that we headed down the to airport so I could head home.

Here's where the madness begins....

My flight was at 515pm. I got to the airport at 4. They announced that Logan was shut down for the night about 15 minutes later. 45 minutes after that I finally made it to the ticket counter where I was told that all the flights out of the area for Monday were sold out. My only option was a 640am flight out on Tuesday. So basically a weekend turned into like half a week. ugh. It wasn't that big of a deal since it just meant that I had to stay longer with Chris (who was a saint and came back to the airport to pick me up and bring me back to his house). But it did mean I would miss a day and a half of work. The airport was insanity though. Everything was chaotic, no one knew what was going on, people were freaking out, some were sleeping on the floor already.

Monday I was on my own since Chris had to work, so I took a cab over to the Aventura Mall (which is huge by the way) to get some clothes for work since everything I had was dirty and not work appropriate really. Things only began to suck when Chris ended up having to work late, which then became really late and I only got to see him for like half an hour before I had to go to bed. Oh well.

Tuesday was beyond long and stressful. I got to the airport an hour before my flight, then had to stand in line for half an hour just to check in. Then security was beyond understaffed and slow and I barely made my flight. Thankfully I was able to get some sleep on the way to Charlotte, then to Boston. As soon as I got back to Boston, however, I had to run to get to work. I didn't end up leaving work until like 730 and only because I couldn't think anymore.

So needless-to-say, it's been alittle bit of a crazy couple of days, so thank god this coming weekend is 3 days long and I'm going to Maine to relax some (and bite the bullet and pay my taxes) and break in the pontiac.

Thank you and goodbye.
