Summary Find out for yourself. Be warned though, it's slash fluff.
Patrick lay in bed awake. It was too early in the morning to get up, and anyway his thoughts were consumed with other things. Mainly Pete. Pete was his best friend and his worse enemy. He was everything that Patrick just wasn’t. Pete was charming, intelligent and outgoing. Patrick was quiet, shy and just not up to the same intellectual level as Pete. Pete made all the girls swoon with his perfect hair, and his tan and his size five girl’s jeans. Patrick, Patrick went largely unnoticed. What with his pale skin, his chubby belly and double chin, long hair almost constantly hidden under a hat, eyes masked by those classic thick framed glasses. The same ones that lay on the beside table right now. As for his jeans, well he just didn’t want to think about it. One thing was for certain though; they weren’t size five girl’s jeans. He sighed, moving so that his hands were positioned just behind his head. The problem was, even though Pete was almost his exact opposite and seemed to show up his every flaw, even thought it would be so easy for him just to hate him and move on, he couldn’t. Pete was his best friend, the one guy he could, and would, defend until the ends of the earth. They shared a connection unlike any of the other members of the band; they were Pete and Patrick, best friend until the end of time. Like Hans Solo and Luke Skywalker… Silently Patrick cursed himself for using such a lame reference.
As the sun peeked out from behind the curtains the body next to him stirred. All of a sudden Patrick found himself very self conscious, pulling his tee shirt nervously to cover his stomach. All too aware that his lower half was clad only in boxers, exposing his too thick legs. There was a soft mumble and the figure beside him rolled over, pressing their face into his chest, the black hair standing out clearly against the grey fabric of Patrick’s tee shirt. For a second he froze, worried that his partner would come to the sudden realisation that Patrick wasn’t worth it. Something he had feared for a long time. Finally words spilled from those perfect full lips that had been silent and motionless not moments before.
“Morning Trick.”
“I didn’t wake you did I?” He asked softly.
It was well know that Pete was an insomniac, he didn’t sleep often and when he did that sleep was precious. Although he seemed to be sleeping better recently.
Pete shook his head, his hair tickling Patrick’s chest through his shirt.
“No Trick, you didn’t.”
Patrick smiled.
“Are you alright?” Pete asked, lifting his head, his chocolate brown eyes boring into Patrick’s.
“Yeah, I was just thinking.”
“About what.”
“About us.” Patrick smiled. “How we’re like ying and yang.”
“How’s that?” Pete smirked, resting his chin on the younger man’s chest.
“How we’re completely different but we just fit together.”
Pete smiled, lifting himself slightly and pressing a gentle kiss to Patrick’s lips.
“I love you Patrick.”
“I love you too Pete.”
“Can we just lay here for a while?”
Patrick nodded, wrapping his arms around Pete and burying his face in his shoulder.
“Sure, we have nothing more important to do.”
“What’s more important than being with me?” Pete teased.
“Nothing.”
