Reading this-http://money.cnn.com/2010/08/24/news/economy/public_school_teachers_budgets/index.htm?source=cnn_bin&hpt=Sbin just makes me angry. I've been thinking about this for awhile, actually. It gets on my nerves that school is compulsory but there is not enough funding to equip our children with the materials necessary to learn. It makes me angry when people rant and rave over a 2 cent property tax increase, and then turn around and bitch because the schools had to cut this or that because again-there is no funding. Our future is in the hands of these children, and everyone seems to want to wait on someone else to fix this or blame someone else for the problem. When is everyone going to wake up and realize this boat's just going in circles and its time for everyone to grab and oar and steer it straight? Good teachers are the real role models we should all look up to, yet a basketball star will make in a year what a teacher might glimpse in a lifetime. How is this right? When did our priorities slide so far?
