Feeling a bit better

Feb 17, 2006 22:00

I'm feeling far better than yesterday, though still not in top form. At least the headache and nausea are gone. Hurray! *coughhackcough*

I'm anticipating a halt request on my machine... any time now.

I tried to close my deprecated bank account for the fourth or so time today. It'd been probably two years since my last attempt, but the bank statements have been steadily rolling in with a 0 balance, so I assumed there were no fees to pay. When I tried to close it this afternoon, they told me there was a six dollar fee which I'd have to pay before they could close the account. They were unable to tell me why, but they said the fee had been incurred a few weeks ago. I'm baffled as to why they'd let me sit around with a zero balance for years and then charge me a fee. I think they just want to make it as difficult as possible for me to close the account. Additionally, they said that they'd have to take the payment in cash and send it to the main office via cashier's check, meaning they wouldn't be able to close the account today. Which is precisely the same thing that happened last time. I paid the fees, waited for them to send the check, and then went back in to close the account.
That time, their computers were down while I was on my lunch break. Thankfully, they've now extended their hours; when I originally tried to close the damned account, they closed at 4 or so, except on Fridays, meaning I'd have to take time off work to close the account. Uhm, no thanks. Now they're supposed to be open until 7pm every day. Hopefully this means I can actually achieve some resolution.
I did get to deal with a very helpful member of the bank's personnel... probably the first such I've run into at that particular bank. I feel bad that she got this mess dumped in her lap, since my ire is the result of crappy bank policy rather than any shortcomings on her part. *sigh*

wtf
