Something to keep me entertained.

My hair is drying so I can put a little fresh dye on it before I leave tomorrow, and dracula_disco posted this up on Facebook, so I figured I might as well do something at least...interesting while I wait for water to evaporate. I have to get a blow dryer.

QUESTIONS:

1. Which song do you prefer, #1 or #40?
Oh, man, that’s really rough. They’re actually very similar songs. Right now, though, I’ve been on a Regina kick, so I’m gonna go with #40.

2. Have you ever listened to #12 continuously on repeat?
No, it’s quite long to begin with.

3. What album is #26 from?
I’ve honestly got no fucking idea. I have two different copies of it, and they’re both from mix tapes.

4. What do you think about the artist who did #15?
They’re very brilliant, but I’m still pissed at them for missing the Pgh show. Food poisoning my ass.

5. Is #19 one of your favorite songs?
No, not really. I haven’t listened to it in a while.

6. Who does #38 remind you of?
A lot, actually. Relationships, driving, bebopping around. It’s one of those songs that has the capacity of being nostalgic the first time you hear it.

7. Does #20 have better lyrics or music?
Completely contrary to most Voltaire songs, I think the music is better.

8. Do any of your friends like #3?
I don’t know if any of them have even ever heard that song.

9. Is #33 from a movie soundtrack?
Doubt it, but it would be super for just that.

10. Is #18 overplayed on the radio?
No, but Good Charlotte used to be terribly overplayed, which is why I think so many people hate them now.

11. What does #21 remind you of?
Actually, it’s one of the few Smiths songs I rarely listen to. So not much.

12. Which song do you prefer, #5 or #22?
It depends on what kind of a mood I’m in.

13. What album is #17 from?
Viva Hate

14. When did you first hear #39?
On the internet? I don’t even know how I first heard of Voltaire, but that was one of the first of his songs I ever acquired.

15. When did you first hear #7?
Shit, The Smiths are another band I have no idea how I discovered. I probably heard “How Soon is Now?” somewhere and downloaded everything I could get my hands on at the time (read - not much. This was many years ago). As in the case of the previous song, it probably sat on my computer for a while before I decided I wanted to listen to everything I own by The Smiths.

16. What genre is #8?
Soundtrack, fantasy, neo-classical... Whatever it is, it’s awesome.

17. Do any of your friends like #14?
Maybe? I’m sure every one of us at one point owned a Savage Garden album.

18. What color does #4 remind you of?
Dark grey, like the shadows in an old black-and white film.

19. Have you ever blasted #11 on your stereo?
Have I!

20. What genre is #37?
Piano rock or indie, I suppose.

21. Can you play #13 on any instrument?
Not currently, but I bet that little keyboard part would be easy as pie.

22. What is your favorite lyric from #30?
Oh the whole song is so funny and true. All of it. :)

23. What is your favorite lyric from #23?
It’s...um...it’s an instrumental version.

24. Would you recommend #24 to your friends?
Of course! I recommend the whole musical, and series, and comics for that matter.

25. Is #2 a good song to dance to?
Hm. Not particularly.

26. Do you ever hear #16 on the radio?
Erm...maybe if you’re a big fan of staring at the ground and shuffling your feet.

27. Is #32 more of a “nighttime” or “daytime” song?
It’s like an evening song. It’s a grey area.

28. Does #36 have any special meaning to you?
Just that it fucking kicks ass.

29. Do any of your friends like #31?
This is another one I doubt they’ve ever heard.

30. Is #25 a fast or slow song?
Oh, god. Neither? It’s fast, but it’s very downbeat and melancholy.

31. Is #35 a happy or sad song?
It’s fucking Radiohead.

32. What is one of your favorite lyrics from #9?
The whole thing. But if I really had to pick, I’d go with the following stanza:
And she had at least a hundred old baseballs that she’d taken from kids
And she collected bones of all kinds
And she lived in a trailer under a bridge
And she made her own whiskey and gave cigarettes to kids
And she’d been struck by lightning seven or eight times
And she hated the mention of rain

33. Is #34 better to listen to alone or with friends?
Friends, if you’re beboppin’ around at a party.

34. When did you first hear #27?
Oh, now this one I know. My friend Sabryna and I used to spend every day just laying in her room out of the summer sun listening to CDs and napping on and off, and this was one of the albums we listened to so many times I thought for sure we were gonna wear it out.

35. Name 3 other songs by the artist who did #29.
“Who Stole the Sun from Its Place in My Heart”, “Liebe Utopia, on Waves of Silken Carnage”, and “Dreaming of My Scarlet Woman”.

36. Do you know all the words to #6?
I do! Even the French bits!

37. Does #28 have better lyrics or music?
They’re inseparable, but for the comedic value, the lyrics.

38. What album is #10 from?
Erm...Mother Earth. +laugh+

meaning, meme, music
