It's a dangerous business, Frodo, walking out your door.

What’s this?! An update? From the intertubes? I know!

I’m at my Aunt Kim’s who lives near Raleigh, North Carolina. We’ve been staying here for two nights now, and this is my last night here. I’m really gonna miss this place; it’s like another world. It’s so beautiful here. She lives in a massive house with - literally - four extra bedrooms (which makes six bedrooms total), heats her house with a wood stove, has pet chickens and ducks (not to mention four cats and a dog), and has the best food in her fridge! If I didn’t have this whole “tour” obligation, I would literally just stop now and stay here for another week and then either continue on the road or just go home. I’ve taken some pictures of the place, and have already uploaded the ones from my phone on Facebook, and there are a ton more on my camera all the way from NYC to Raleigh, but I left my camera cord out in the van and I don’t feel like grabbing it.

I also hear that the weather has been super nice in Pittsburgh, but out here it’s been just amazing. The day we arrived, it was already fifty, and that was in the evening. Yesterday and today, it was around seventy, seventy-five. I went for a nice long hike yesterday, but today I just stayed inside and watched The Lord of the Rings on the giant projection screen in my aunt’s home theater. Hey, it was my first day off since we started this thing. But I don’t feel like I wasted the niceness; we’re following a pattern of nice, sunny weather at least down to Orlando, and it may last longer than that, but I usually don’t trust weather reports for more than three days.

And that’s pretty much what’s been going on, other than hanging out in the car on long drives, and oh yeah, the whole music thing, which I love, but don’t feel like talking about too much since it’s pretty much my whole life right now. I love it, but I need to be in the moment for it. I will let you know that Jeff just wrote a new song and the rest of us have been working on wicked harmonies for current songs as well as a cover of the song “Wagon Wheel”. I’m not sure who it’s originally by, but at least a hundred bands have covered it already so you’ve probably heard it.

I’ve actually talked to Chris on the phone twice, which really isn’t a priority since we’re both nerds and prefer to text, but it is nice to hear his voice every now and again. Plus, if he puts me on speaker, I can talk to the cat, which both the cat and I appreciate, even if he does chew on the phone while I’m trying to talk to him.

Sometimes I still can’t believe this whole thing is real. It feels like I’m going to be going home tomorrow instead of on to Nashville. I’ve got four more weeks on the road, but I’m getting better. I’m worried it’s because I’ve been able to stay with my aunt, which is a lot like being at home, but at the same time, I might be with my aunt, but I’m still away from Chris and Ohno, and I’m okay and dealing. I get homesick, but what the hell, everyone does. Four more weeks. Just this, just what I’ve already done, four more times. I think I can do that. :)

I’ve already written a bunch of letters and mailed all but the most recent ones, so start checking your mailboxes. I’ll try to get those other pictures up soon, and I’ll probably post a few of them in my journal when I do. That’s really all for now. I’m gonna catch up on House and wash some clothes in the sink, and then off to bed. We’re on the road pretty early tomorrow, eight hour drive to Nashville.
