Jon brewed last weekend (he made an ESB) and I saved a bunch of the spent grain. The first thing I made was a spent grain boule - it looked a lot prettier than it tasted, it wasn't done in the middle and the recipe I used had no salt in it and I just didn't think to add any on my own.
The second thing I made were spent grain chocolate chip cookies and these came out fabulous. I am going to make them again and tweak the recipe, this time using spent grains from the Red Rye Jon is brewing today, and exchanging a few ingredients.
Earlier in the week I made apple crumble bars with my own homemade apple preserves, they were fantastic!
This morning I took Ruby for a walk and noticed the enormous amount of beautiful leaves all over the ground - so I started collecting them as I walked along. I always do this in the fall, I just love leaves so much, they're beautiful. I pressed them today, so in a few weeks I'm going to have pressed leaves to play with.
