Basically, I made plans with this guy. I picked the movie & he picked the time. I get dressed and I decided to take things slow, so I was going to meet him there. My family was all "if it's a date, he should pick you up." So I asked him if that's what he would prefer...I asked him because I was perfectly ok driving myself. He said he wanted to pick me up. The movie starts at 7:15pm & we made these plans well in advance.
It was almost 7pm, so I went to the movies with my family. He calls says he's on his way, he apologies because he was with friends and lost track of time. I told him where to find me and he said ok. I was going to wait outside, but my family said "let him find you, you're clearly not a priority right now & we don't want you to miss the movie." I really wanted to see "Hidden Figures", but I was supposed to be on a date. So I was conflicted, but I paid for my ticket and decided to wait inside.
The movie theater is packed I sat next the front. He said he was there & I told him where I was. He seemed really apologetic. The movie comes on & tell him to let me know where he is, so I can find him. The last thing he said via text was ok. I watched that whole movie, checking my phone & the exits every 5 seconds. He never showed.
The movie goes off, he's not even in the lobby. It was embarrassing. I had talked him up to my family and he didn't show. I wasn't even looking for a boyfriend, honestly I thought this was more of a friend thing. He couldn't even commit to a friend hang? Then why make all these commitments? I'm so done with boys & these fucking games! This is why I don't date.
And Hidden Figures was amazing! Not only were these women brilliant, but they had supporting, loving husbands. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era.
