I just read a
very depressing story which, on this day of all days, must definitely be filed under "be thankful you have a mother." Dreadfully awful, but (I must admit) understandable given the circumstances.
Yours truly (and his sister) took his mother out to dinner at Red Lobster yesterday, before the official holiday. I also sent flowers, which as of 4:00pm Saturday, did not make it to my mom's house as I'd instructed the local florist (because they don't deliver on Sundays). GRRRR... I hope they at least delivered them to a neighbor...provided a neighbor was home at the time.
Before Mother's Day festivities, I deposited my federal tax return. I had planned on devoting all the funds to rent/bills...but I figured a little bit of (necessary) spending was in order. I needed a new CD recording of Die Zauberflöte to help prepare for next month. I've owned three recordings (2 CDs, 1 LP) until this one. Recording #1 I put on eBay because I was, at the time, averse to older remastered recordings. Recording #2 is lost somewhere in Quincy, Illinois (possibly lost in the shuffle of moving). Recording #3 is a great LP recording, but I can't very well lug a phonograph everywhere with me. So, I stopped by BORDERS and purchased a 2006 "we're so crazy about Mozart this year!" recording, all with German singers (including Dorothea Röschmann, a favorite Pamina of mine). More on this later.
(Oh, and I think I'll buy some clothes, too. Does Target have good deals on shorts?)
