Completely Oblivious!
So, there was (and still may be) a violent standoff that occured at the corner of Big Bend and Zephyr in Maplewood--just around the corner from where I live. I don't know all the details, but as far as I understand it: 1. early this morning a truck parked on Zephyr (one street parallel to me) was on fire. 2. Fire Dept came, followed by the cops. 3. Some nutjob shot three of them (killing one fireman). 4. Said nutjob sets the house across the street on fire, burning it to the ground. 5. Suspect's whereabouts are unknown. (He may have holed himself up in the burning home.)
Big Bend was swarmed with cops and fire departments from neighboring cities... ...but I had no clue of it whatsoever. Completely oblivious to the whole thing. I must have slept deeply through the firetrucks, cop cars, gunfire and helicopters swarming above. Didn't even see the commotion because when I drove to work, I turned left on my street--away from Big Bend. I did pass by a couple cops at the Sutton/Lyndover intersection, but I assumed they were dealing with something minor. Well, I was definitely set straight when I got to work, and the receptionist was worried about me. My cell phone also had a few voicemails from my concerned mama.
I'm ok, though I don't know if I can go home right away after work, especially if the cops want the area to remain sealed off. As I said, the suspect's whereabouts are unknown at this time...so I guess I'll have to just go straight to the movies with friends (as originally planned) to see Mamma Mia! at the Chase...then figure out what to do then.
This Canada trip over the weekend will be a welcome change!!!
