Summary: A poem
Notes:
THE ARENA
Take me into the Arena
Let me stand upon its sands
The Sands where the blood of men were spilt
The Arena where hopes, convictions , dreams -
And promises where shattered
Take me into the Arena
A place with no Eyes, no mouth
no feelings and no choice
A place blind and dumb to the activities of the world
But holds so much grace and importance
A place where great lives and
Worthless men are ended
Take me into the Arena
A place where you become what you wish
A place where everything seems possible
A place where you make your destiny
Before the eyes of men and gods
A place where name once made
Cannot be destroyed
Only by conspiracy of men will glory fall
Take me into the Arena
That I may see to my death
That I may see what is “me”
Take me Brother, take me Sister,
Take me into the Arena
That I may draw hope from its sands
From the energy charged from its grounds
Welling from the loss,
Loss of those who could not achieve
Take me into the Arena
For purpose is made clear in the Arena
That I may sand and take my pledge
Or let my blood spill an its sands
and add to the hopes of one yet to come
Take me into the arena
