attention crafty people!

I know some of you are cosplayers or may be artsy and crafty, so let me pose a question for you all. I've decided to be the Black Swan for Halloween, which may prove to be my biggest Halloween costume undertaking yet. I'm also trying to keep it somewhat cheap. I'm going to go through my sister's old ballet stuff that's in the attic to look for a black tutu, if we don't have one I'll either make one or buy one on etsy. I'm going to buy a cheap pair of black flats and sew in ribbon to tie around my legs as fake ballet shoes. Also, even though it doesn't quite match up with the "official" costume, I might get a pair of these kickass tights, just because I want a pair!

My biggest dilemma is with the top. I really don't want to invest in an elaborate beaded bodice. They're too expensive. I'm going to buy a strapless leotard (I found one on amazon) and try to embellish it myself. I picked up a big black and crystal beaded broach on clearance at work that I might use. But my question is...

How the EFF do you attach a ton of feathers to a costume?? I don't know how to make the top feathery without it looking like crap. Can you sew feathers? I don't know! Also, where can I even get that many feathers?? Usually I can find all my crafty needs at work, and we do have black feathers but in a pretty small package. Maybe if I bought one a week with a coupon, lol.

Here's a picture for reference, in case you haven't seen the movie. Also, Natalie!

That is one huge tutu! XDD I'm really excited about this costume, I've already roped my sister into doing the eye-and-arms makeup for me. I still need to get a crown, but I can probably find a cheap one at the Halloween store and spray paint it black. And if I can find some, I'll get a pair of red contact lenses. :DD

Thoughts? Suggestions? Should I just give up and be Sookie instead? XDDD

I love Halloween and I love to go all-out for it, but usually it just creates stress, lol. But last year I didn't dress up at all, so I think it's a good year for something crazy like this.

Okay, going to bed now. I'm always so excited when I get to sleep before midnight! XDD
