How much would you give?
I was recently asked, if I won millions in the lottery, how much would I give to charity. My first instinct would be to give most of it to far more needy people than I. The real question, however, is how much would I actually keep without feeling selfish? I thought, well, I'd want to pay off my debt and purchase a green home and car. Would it be selfish, in addition, to put money into savings for taxes, insurance, maintenance, etc.? It seems practical to me to do so. When one makes an investment in property, shouldn't one be a responsible owner? I don't earn a lot of money, so I'd have to put money aside to comfortably live like a self-sufficient adult in the Western world.
