Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
RIP Rodger Keith 'Syd' Barrett (1946-2006). The founding member of Pink Floyd has died today of his implications with diabites, it was told today. He inspired the group, but his misuse of the hallucinagenic (sp??) LSD led to the downfall of his career. He lived as a recluse for 30 years before his death today. He has dealt with diabetes and drug induced schizoprhenia. His madness led the remaining group (and David Gilmour who replaced Syd as guitarist) to dealve deep into their own madness and inspired them to write songs such as 'Brian Damage' and 'Comfertably Numb' and the song 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond' a song about Syd.
