Overall Thoughts:
It's been a fun year. Interesting and fun and a bit of a growth opportunity, sort of.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Not quite as much as I would have thought, but looks about right, considering the dry spell I went through and how much more busy this year was than the one previous.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
I'm a multi-shipper, so none of the pairings really surprised me (except maybe the Jensen/Gabriel, because...wtf?), but I think I'll have to go with the ratings of some of these as a surprise, even though it's not on the list. I wrote more R-rated things this year than I thought I was capable of.
What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Forbidden Fruit, though there are a few others that tie for second place on that scale. That particular fic stretched me a bit, with a pairing I was unused to writing, but it's probably my favorite fic of the ones I've written and posted this year.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Once again, those high ratings. *BLUSH* Pretty much all my knowledge of sex stuff comes from fanfic, so it was a bit scary to write something that I had absolutely no personal experience with. And I learned that I could do just that. :D
My best story of this year:
Not entirely sure how to answer this one, but I'm going to go with
Forbidden Fruit, again.
My most popular story of this year:
Three-way tie between
Point of View,
Stuck In the Middle With You, and
Claimed, based on number of unique comments.
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Once more,
Forbidden Fruit. I absolutely love the way it came out and I think it's a bit sad that only two people read/commented on it. I'm thinking I might have to crosspost it at some point, see if it gets more attention.
Most fun story to write:
Oooh, it's a bit hard to choose between
Word Game and
Point of View. Word Game's whole premise was fun, but Point Of View was just so very interesting, in the dynamics of writing a threesome in two bodies and with how there was a lot of interaction with others in writing it.
Story with the single sexiest moment:
You know what, I'm am most definitely not the person to ask this of, as I am having a terribly hard time defining "sexy" for myself.
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
Er, either I'm incredibly vanilla or it's very telling that I can't think of an answer for this one. ^^;
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
I probably sound like a broken record at this point, but I have to say
Forbidden Fruit. Writing Gabriel and Castiel in that setting pushed at my concept of both characters beyond how I had previously seen them.
Hardest story to write:
Probably
Midnight, for the simple reason that it's a fandom I had never written for before.
Biggest Disappointment:
Daemonic Wiles, because there was so much I had in my head and getting any of it out onto paper was like pulling molars and I'm really not entirely happy with how it came out.
Biggest Surprise:
Wow, I'm starting t annoy myself with how much I'm talking about this fic. XD Again,
Forbidden Fruit, because it's a pairing I wasn't so sure about and the fact that it flowed and worked as well as it did was a nice surprise.
Favorite Opening Line(s):
"Andjoo gotta freckle," Gabriel slurred, one hand wavering in the air for a moment before carefully tapping Jensen's cheek. -
Losing Control (Yeah, I'm All Over The Place) There have been times in Jared's (relatively short) life that he's been scared for his life. Generally, those times have involved his mother, her largest wooden spoon and his full name.
Right now, it involves the dragon staring at him. -
Jared And The Dragon Gabriel, Sam has decided, is a curve-ball in the baseball analogy of his and Dean's life. -
For Keeps Favorite Closing Line(s):
Sam is alive and well, standing up and breathing and touching Lucifer’s arm and reassuring his brother that he’s okay now, but the blood remains, a silent reminder that one day, Sam will die and there will be nothing Lucifer can do about it. -
This Is My Blood (Shed For You) For now, there was just the trees and the apples and each other. -
Forbidden Fruit He's got his brother, his lover, under the bright lights of a boxing ring after five rounds with the devil and everything's perfect. -
It's Time We Started Winning Top 6 Scenes from Anywhere You Would Choose to Have Illustrated:
1. The kiss from
Forbidden Fruit (*ducks rotten fruit*)
2. Anything from
Jared And The Dragon and/or
Father Dragon And The Stars3. Perhaps something from
This Night? And I can't really think of anything else I'd really want art for, though of course any art at all would be fabulous. :D
Fic-writing goals for 2012:
Write and post for the Gabriel Big Bang and smack Jared and the Dragon into a proper fic/series. And that's about it. ^^
