We now have a new kitty. By we I mean Banfield because I have no room or time for a urinary prone kitty :P But he's kind of mine for a little while but he's not in the apartment and I don't have to pay for his much needed care!
It started with a client bringing a cat with a history of urinary tract infections in for a really bad one. We had suggested urinary diets in the past but the client had not done so. This one didn't go away after two weeks of antibiotics like the last had. He had brought him in and we had gone over the treatment plan. Yes we suggested an expensive test but after he declined this we did suggest another round of antibiotics and a urinary prescription diet. The owner then brought up euth which shocked the vet. He asked them if they wanted to think on what they wanted to do. They were firm on euth and bawling while suggesting it. They could afford $30/month for a wellness plan but couldn't afford $30 food! After going around with them he asked us what we would normally do as he was a temp vet for the holidays. We ended up asking the owners to surrender the cat to us.
He smells like wee but he's a good cat. We are treating him as thorough as we can. It turns out he might have surgery coming up for it though and he got some valium and fluids today. We switched his name from Skizzles to Bubba.
I'm exhausted and hope I will get into the swing of working 50-60 hours a week eventually.
