It was wonderful to see you at War and I am glad to see you posting here again. I have missed your posts a great deal!
I agree with you about the pleasures of Pennsic. While I admit to having a love/hate relationship with War myself, all the things you mention are part of what draws me back again every year. It is a magical place.
I love knowing I can drop in to a familiar place and see friendly face. You and Menken are always welcoming and I always discover new things like Microwave cake. :)
I know it is alot of work for you and Menken and I hope you can find a happy medium that works for you on all levels.
It is always hard to leave something behind that brings you pleasure. :) You have been doing this a long time and I am sure it will be a bit hard to let it go.
Though you didn't mention anything "bad" about Pensic (beyond the camping part) this may have been intentional. Otherwise, it sounds like you had a fabulous time and I'm glad you went again. I hope you can go for many more years to come. :)
I detest camping. This is why I attend no summer camping events in Ealdormere, no matter how much I enjoy the hosts or how many friends are going.
I love Pennsic. There is so much to do and I forgive it for being camping. I constantly say "Pennsic is so much fun, I forget I'm camping" which is high praise from me. It is also relatively easy camping. Skrael is near flush toilets and sinks with running water. Most sites have electricity. There is a food court. There are huge A&S tents, the performing arts tent, the barn, and shops. You don't have to be constantly exposed to the elements (rain or excessive sun) or feel cramped into dining flies or your tent. And there are next to no bugs.
I'm personally glad you came and I had so much fun hanging out with you!
Thanks Dubh. I enjoyed spending time with you as well.
As I mentioned in my reply to Laksmi, the things I dislike about Pennsic had nothing to do with Pennsic but things I dislike. Heat, camping, distance.
You are right that we are spoilt in Skrael to be so close to everything and to have access to more then most do. I like to spend time with the people there (most of the time) and I am grateful to those who helped me set up as it was one of the major issues I had. I am unsure how to set up a tent let alone set it up alone.

Now that the work is done for another year, I get all misty-eyed and nostalgic. Maybe we can find a way to make it work just one more time.....
