It wasn't long after she found Jim and Dwight that she was ushered off to the clinic despite protests that it was way too early for her to really be giving birth. Nevermind the fact that it was obvious her water had broken and the contractions were happening closer together now ( Read more... )

Dwight had told Angela that Pam was having her baby. Being a supportive friend, she waited an appropriate amount of time and then went in to visit, with a nice bouquet of flowers from outside.

"Hello, Pam. Are you decent for a visitor?"

Pam looked down at herself, then up again. "Yes?" she said. She grinned when she saw Angela. She'd even brought flowers.

"Hi."

Angela came in and looked around for something to put the flowers in, but this was not exactly a full service hospital; no vases at all.

"There ought to be a gift shop," she told Pam, just making conversation. "How are you, and the baby?"

Pam laughed and nodded in agreement. "Good," she replied. "Well, I'm tired, but I'm okay. And the baby's healthy, so.. I can't really ask for much more than that."

She gently lifted the baby up in her arms a bit more and angled her towards Angela. "She's got all ten fingers and all ten toes."

"No, I suppose that's really as much as you can expect," agreed Angela, studying the baby closely. "It's hard to tell what they'll really look like this soon."

Pam nodded, brushing Samantha's little bit of hair away from her forehead. "I'm glad she doesn't have Jim's big ears, though," she admitted with a chuckle, glancing back at Angela.

"Did- Did you want to hold her?"

"Yes, I can see why you would have been concerned about that. She's a very fortunate child, to have normal ears," Angela agreed.

"All right," she said, as though she had not been thinking about holding the newborn for hours now. "You look as though you could use a break."

Pam nodded, then gestured for her to come closer. "She's heavier than she looks," she warned as she passed the baby over.

"I'm sure she is." Angela was sure that her own baby, when she had one, would of course be petite, but that was not to be expected from a child of Pam's.

It had been a while since she had held a baby, but it was one of those things that a person didn't really forget how to do.

"I think she got mostly the good parts of you and Jim, appearance wise," she said kindly, even though it really was too early to tell.

"Thanks, Angela," she replied, mentally adding I think to the end of it.

"So um.." She scrambled to find something to talk about. "How are the wedding plans coming?"

"Do you have any idea how difficult it is to plan a wedding in a primitive place like this?" Angela sighed, before remembering that Pam probably really did. "I'm sure it's fine for some people, but I'd really like mine to be... right."

Pam nodded, understanding. "I suppose you have to take what you can get around here," she mused.

"Yes, I'm afraid we might have to make due." Angela sighed and patted the baby's back gently. She really was very sweet. "I think I'll hold out for a bit, though. I won't get married without a proper dress."

Pam thought for a moment, tilting her head slightly. "You know.. there are a few people here that can sew. Someone made me a dress. I could.. Ask around, if you like," she suggested lightly.
