He'd felt the same kind of weird awe when he'd seen Kara after Calliope was born, and when he saw Pam holding her own kid there, that awe was mixed with a little pride.
John made his way over to the bedside, pulling a chair over quietly even if Pam was awake. "Hey, you survived," he said, giving her a smile.

"Hey, kiddo," he said quietly, grinning down at her, even if John was pretty sure she had no clue what was going on. "I think you're going to like it here."

"She might just be.. hungry or something," she murmured. "Jim's probably wandering around in a daze somewhere if you wanted to go talk to him.."

Pam looked tired and beat, but happy all the same, and John wasn't sure what to say. Something along the lines of how proud he was of her and Jim, and he'd always be there for them (and for babysitting duties), but it'd probably just come out all wrong. He leaned over and kissed Pam's forehead instead. "Get some rest, okay?"
