[dated for early morning Sunday, October 22]

Pam woke up early, after a definitely unrestful night's sleep, and stood just outside the door to her hut to watch the sun come up over the treetops. It had been weird sleeping alone, but they'd both agreed to not see each other before the wedding, so that involved Jim leaving the night before to go ( Read more... )

Veronica grinned, arms wrapped around herself as she approached Pam's hut for preparations. It was a little cold, the influence of the proximity of the ocean, but Veronica kind of liked it.

"Hey," she said, arriving at the door, her smile excited. Marriage wasn't in her own plans for the future, but that couldn't keep her from being happy for others. "I heard there was gonna be this wedding today, so we should totally crash."

Pam's eyes went wide and sparkly as she grinned at Veronica. "You heard about that, too?" she asked, leaning forward to wrap the girl in a hug.

"I heard the bride is totally hot."

She ushered her inside. "Everybody else should be here soon, I think. Though, I'm not even sure what time it is. I was up before the sun was this morning," she admitted.

"The bride is seriously smokin'," Veronica agreed easily, returning the hug tightly. There may or may not have been something in her eye, and you can just shut up, because it was early anyway and maybe she was just yawning, because sometimes your eyes water when you yawn. Shh.

"I've got no clue. I stopped wearing my watch ages ago. But they'll be here." She did a little hop-skip. "Exciting!"

Pam blushed as she pulled away. "I know. Do you think you could help me into my dress? Well, not really help me into it, but tie up the back for me? I can get it on just fine, I just can't tie the ribboning in the back myself," she explained, motioning to the dress hanging on the inside wall.

River remembered that Pam had told her once that she really liked and missed tea. Not the green sort they had in abundance on the island, but real tea. River missed it, too, and had asked around until she found someone willing to spare a bit for a woman on her wedding day. Now she had cups and a pot wrapped in a towel and hoped it wouldn't get cold before Pam got to have any and that she wouldn't spill any on the dress she'd finally wrangled from the clothes box.

"Good morning," she greeted Pam. "Big day."

"Morning, River. What've you got there?" she asked, a curious look on her face.

"And, yes. I'm very nervous." She felt silly having not dressed yet, but after her fitting with Sansa, she knew that she wouldn't be able to tie the ribbon up properly by herself.

"Tea. I begged and Stu was nice and I have real tea for you. If you don't mind drinking out of a tin cup, because I couldn't find any nicer ones. I think Jayne put them away somewhere weird. I do have sugar, though."

She set the teapot and cups on the ground near Pam and spread the towel on the ground so she could sit on it and not get her own fancy dress dirty.

"Why are you nervous? It's going to be great."

"Tea?" she repeated. "As in.. real tea? Oh, wow. River, that's.. wow."

She turned towards River and the tea, grinning. "No, a tin cup is fine," she assured her.

"Why am I nervous? I don't know.. It-It's a good nervous feeling though."

Susan had gone to the compound very early in the morning and baked some sweet cinammon bread, thinking Pam might be hungry but not want anything too heavy. "Hello!" she said after a quick knock at Pam's door. "I've brought breakfast. You don't want to get hungry and faint halfway through." She was already dressed in the green dress Sansa had made for her for her birthday, though she planned to do her own hair up and tuck a flower into the braid after she helped Pam get ready.

Pam got up from where she was sitting on the bed - not that she was just staring at her dress, because she wasn't - and let Susan in.

"Morning, Susan," she greeted, giving her a quick hug before backing away so she could walk in.

"Oh, wow. That dress is so pretty. I'm going to bet you didn't get it from the clothes box," she said with a laugh.

"Sansa made it for my birthday," Susan told her. "I couldn't think of a better occasion to wear it." She caught sight of Pam's dress and tried very hard not to squeal. She had known Sansa was talented with a needle, but this was really exquisite. "Oh, Pam, your wedding dress is so pretty! You're going to be such a beautiful bride."

"Wow, she is really good at what she does," she mused.

She blushed faintly and nodded. "Isn't it amazing? Could you help me do up the back? I can get it on just fine, it's just.. the ribboning in the back? I can't tie it up right by myself," she explained.

Padme definately had a bit of waddle in her step as she walked towards Pam's hut. She had a box with her - not the box, but a box none the less.

And in this box was something very special, that she hoped that she'd like. She bit her lip, and paused outside of the door. "Pam? Are you awake?" She didn't want to startle her or walk in on her indisposed - but she was so proud of her in this moment.

"Definitely awake!" she called, pushing herself up to open the door.

"Padme, hi!" She wrapped the other woman in a gentle hug before letting her in. She hoped no one noticed how her hands were shaking. It felt like they were shaking rather badly, though.

She smiled, and her hand found a familar spot on her stomach once she'd set down the box. She leaned up and kissed Pam on the cheek, and squeezed her hand. She knew that Pam was nervous - she'd noticed the hands - but she'd been through it.

"How're you holding up?"

Pam smiled and shrugged. "Nervous? Impatient? I mean, I'm really excited, but ohgod, I'm so nervous," she admitted, brushing back the hair that kept falling into her eyes.

John approached the hut, fidgeting with his tie and already feeling the beginning prickles of heat under his suit jacket. He just comforted himself with the promise that he wouldn't have to have it on for long, and he was wearing it for Pam.

He knocked on the hut frame and resisted leaning against it. "You ladies all ready yet?" he called out.

Pam jumped slightly, when she heard the knock from outside. She relaxed though, when she heard John's voice. She'd been beginning to feel like she was back in high school again, surrounded as she was by her bridal party. Not that she'd ever really had many girlfriends in school.

"Just about," she replied, carefully pushing herself up from where she was sitting on the bed and gestured towards the door.
