VOLES

Apr 30, 2011 23:30

I caught my first vole today! I only felt sorry for it for a second - I'm glad it's dead! We have over 100 holes in our yard due to these rotten monsters. They ate all the roots under one of the established shrubs and it came up when I just pulled on it. And two of the plants I planted recently just VANISHED - to be replaced by stupid vole holes. Grrr. I am on a vendetta!

My seed starting is going well. Almost all of my tomatoes have germinated. The sweet peppers should be next, and I just planted basil and some flowers for the beneficial insects. My seed starting setup is so awesome!

Jimmy is doing well. His appetite has finally come back. He ate an insane amount for dinner tonight. We went to the chinese buffet so I could give him different things - his favorites were the baby corns, the shrimp, and Jello. Yesterday he managed to feed himself most of dinner! It was so cute to watch him. Then after he was done, I set him down and he said, "down!" clear as day, in his cute, high-pitched little voice. Today we went to the town-wide yard sale in Westford - I got a decent lot of 2, 3 and 4T clothes for pretty cheap. I also got a bunch of dress up clothes, like costumes, for when he gets a little older, and some very interesting toys very cheap. One woman sold me a rocking horse for $1. It plays music when he rocks on it. He is having so much fun trying to get on and off again. He enjoyed them so much at the playground, I figured he like it and he really does. Yay! I got some wooden toys that he really likes as well. Jimmy is always watching what's going on around him. I keep thinking there's something else new that he's doing, but I can't remember what.

Oh, night weaning! My policy since Jimmy has been better from his cold is no nursing from when he goes to bed until when I go to bed, at around 11. He didn't wake up for a while, but two nights ago he woke up, and cried for 45 minutes. He didn't get to sleep again for another 45 minutes. He was so mad. Well last night I was worried about having to do that all over again, and of course he woke up at 8:45, screaming like crazy. I went up there and just sat with him. He asked for milk twice, I said no milk, and he rolled over and WENT TO SLEEP. !!!!!!! I was up there less than 5 minutes. Wow. Hopefully that means he's figuring it out. My plan is hopefully he will get used to not nursing during that part of the night, and just sleep thru, or go back to sleep on his own since he knows I won't nurse him. Then I'd like to move him to his own bed, and start lengthening the amount of time after 11 that I won't nurse. So hopefully after that he will sleep through night on his own!!! I am sooooo ready for it!

No pictures today. Maybe some from the easter egg hunt tomorrow.

I am so ready for summer. We are planning our beach trip now, well, my Aunt is planning it - Cindy and I are just taking care of a few details, and I cannot wait. I am so ready for warm weather and sunshine!!!
