So I want to update my live-journal with something thought provoking and meaningful, but apparently all I ever have going on in my life is school, school, school. Does it feel like quite such a drain on anyone else's life? I think it would help some if I could figure out how to pay attention in class. I listen for a few minutes and then something they say triggers a whole train of thoughts and five minutes later I finally realize what I'm doing and scold myself for not paying attention, then the cycle simply repeats. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone else have any suggestions?
As far as entertainment goes, Guitar Hero is the distraction of the moment, no matter which circle of friends I happen to be with. I've even downloaded the songs I liked off of it. Also, I'm a third of the way through Dostoevsky's "The Brothers Karamazov" with Stephen Hawking's "The Universe in a Nutshell" in line after that. Both of them look so good, but it appears any free time I might have this semester is annexed between Senior Design drafting and Community Service. Mind you, Patrick and I have been wanting to volunteer at the Atlanta Humane Society for a long time now, but I think it's bullshit that the State of Georgia thinks it a criminal offense to be ruled responsible for a car accident. Since I'm under the age of 21 they decided that instead of giving me a simple fine I get to take 2 types of Defensive Driving, listen to a lecture by the Mothers Against Drunk Driving, perform a minimum of 8 hours of Community Service, and also pay a lesser fine. They're so demanding about it too, like you don't have anything else better to do.
In other news, my friends and I got stuck in an elevator earlier tonight. Yea, I didn't think it actually happened either. Genius Aerospace students that we are, we were enjoying jumping up and down in an older, rickety elevator. Apparently we all jumped at approximately the same time, and for some reason (maybe a safety feature?) this brought the elevator to a stop. Pushing all the buttons multiple times and jumping up and down again did absolutely nothing. We stood there dumbfounded for a moment, then we pried the doors open with our hands (did you know there was a lock there on the inside of the shaft?) and jumped through the 3.5-4 ft space open to the 4th floor. It was pretty fun/funny.
