Timon narrowed his eyes, having taken note of the others presence. For a moment it looked as though they had spotted him too but then they continued on their way. He tried to follow the light they had been carrying, possibly a lamp, but quickly lost sight of it. They must have turned it off or left the room. The meerkat frowned, feeling discouraged. Well, that had gotten him nowhere. Or had it?

This had to be it, Timon was sure. Pretty sure. About seventy percent sure, which was fairly sure. He could smell Sora’s scent along with the smell of something… something terrible. Timon recognized it as the same odour that had come from Laharl’s room before his mother had arrived: dirty socks. Or, could it have just been the sock that he had been carrying? He tried not to think about it and pushed the smell aside. He had to focus on this person.

By leaning closer against the tunnels walls, Timon pulled himself up and pressed his ears against the floorboards in search of footsteps. If someone really were there, he would be able to hear them. “Where are you?” He mumbled to himself.
