He felt guilty for leaving but turning back was no longer an option for him. It had not been his developed case of claustrophobia as much as it had his fear of being caught by his mother. He had tried to sneak out countless times but not once had his attempts been successful. Not until he decided to trick her. Having used straw and other odds and ends from the nest, he cleverly constructed a body that looked similar to his own when blanketed. Timon had not liked the idea, having been forced to trick his mother, but it seemed the only option left. Talking to her had never worked, and as much as he’d tried, he had never been good at lying to her. However, he would no longer need to think about it. He was free, at least for now. All he had left to worry about was when she found the dummy. He’d learn the true meaning of ‘big trouble’ then.
Beneath the various homes located in the Palazzo area, Timon travelled blindly through one of the many tunnels his mother had dug. He had never been particularly keen of travelling underground but it certainly had its benefits. Between the frightful temperature and snow that’d packed up far taller than himself, tunnelling underground seemed only logical. But, that still did not make him a fan of it. Timon was about as good navigating through tunnels as he was digging them. It all looked the same to him. How anyone was expected to find their way though these things was a mystery. All he had to go by was his sense of smell. What if he’d passed right through the Palazzo area without even knowing it?
The meerkat groaned and adjusted the sock he’d been carrying over his shoulder in place of a bag. It had begun to feel heavy after carrying it for so long. He kicked himself for having not looked for Sora’s place first but in the end it probably would not have helped him find his way back any easier. Following the boys scent did not feel as though it had brought Timon any closer to finding him, though it had lead him to a lit area. Light shone into the tunnel through the small cracks of the floorboards above him. If he could only peer through them maybe he could get a sense of where he was.
