Balthier tended to frequent Paixao's gates. Usually because he somehow always managed to wind up in that direction, but it was also a good place to find more of the interesting characters the city held. And those he couldn't find making a scene on their way into the city could easily be found with a simple glance onto the network. With so many so loud, it was almost impossible to miss.

With that said, Balthier was most assuredly not by the gates for once, instead out and about on a regular stroll through the city. There wasn't any particular reason behind it--just taking a moment to stretch his legs. He had never been the type of person to stay in one place for too long ( ... )

Cogsworth was taken by surprise when the newcomer spoke, jumping back a little after not realizing that the man had been there. He gave a small pout and snapped a little. "Is Scaring people a regular activity for you?" He straightened himself up and calmed down a little.

His gaze overtook the man's attire and he had to admire it a little; it was most certainly formal- lined in gold- but he couldn't understand what style of clothes they were... perhaps something military?
Cogsworth had actually caught what the man had said before, but he didn't entirely understand it. "A 'pale imitation'? I'm not sure what you mean."

"Not typically," Balthier replied, obviously amused. "But I can't very well announce my presence every time around, now, can I?"

"I should think it fairly obvious." He gestured to a few trees nearby. "Pleasing to the eye as gold and jewels may be, one tends to start longing for an unpainted sky after awhile." Balthier sighed, shook his head, and waved a hand dismissively. That was the worst part, really, though Balthier was a man with a closer relationship with the sky than most others tended to be.

((Oh, don't forget! We've gotta reply to the main post. Makes things easier to read if the log gets long enough to collapse))
