Balthier tended to frequent Paixao's gates. Usually because he somehow always managed to wind up in that direction, but it was also a good place to find more of the interesting characters the city held. And those he couldn't find making a scene on their way into the city could easily be found with a simple glance onto the network. With so many so loud, it was almost impossible to miss.

With that said, Balthier was most assuredly not by the gates for once, instead out and about on a regular stroll through the city. There wasn't any particular reason behind it--just taking a moment to stretch his legs. He had never been the type of person to stay in one place for too long.

He wasn't sure exactly what it was about the portly man that caught his attention. Maybe it was the fact that he looked so different from the citizens of the city, maybe it was that, in spite of that, the man was wearing clothes similar to what was more typically worn by the upper class, but the man had Balthier's attention all the same.

"Agreed," he said, offering a casual smirk. "If only the outdoors were more than a pale imitation... I think I might enjoy it considerably more."

Cogsworth was taken by surprise when the newcomer spoke, jumping back a little after not realizing that the man had been there. He gave a small pout and snapped a little. "Is Scaring people a regular activity for you?" He straightened himself up and calmed down a little.

His gaze overtook the man's attire and he had to admire it a little; it was most certainly formal- lined in gold- but he couldn't understand what style of clothes they were... perhaps something military?
Cogsworth had actually caught what the man had said before, but he didn't entirely understand it. "A 'pale imitation'? I'm not sure what you mean."
