(
Naruto lay sprawled out on the couch looking, all things considered, quite pathetic. )
The Uchiha listened as Naruto went into the kitchen, trying to discern what the blond was doing by sound alone. It was difficult, strange, and he was going to need a lot of work if he was going to manage this. He could only hope that the effects were not permanent. Otherwise, he was out his entire career, including the promised offer from Zetsu regarding the Akatsuki, which he knew, if he was going to become a nuke-nin, he would join in a heartbeat as soon as they asked. No one had use for a blind shinobi, and Itachi had no ideas on how to make it work.
"The Sharingan doesn't destroy an Uchiha's eyesight, Naruto," Itachi informed him. "Our bodies have adapted to the stress that it places upon us. There is an advanced form of it, and I suppose, since so few Uchiha manage it, that it is possible it can destroy one's eyesight. I suppose it's a risk that had to be taken..."
Deactivating the Sharingan was a thought Itachi hadn't considered. Then again, he didn't consider that his bloodline had been the source of the problem. He still didn't, but for Naruto's sake, he would follow that suggestion. As he went to draw the chakra away from his eyes again, the Uchiha discovered one very important fact. He couldn't access that chakra at all. He was completely cut off from his eyes as far as chakra went. Whatever had happened, the disruption to the chakra flow there was probably the source of his problems. However, without a Hyuuga to check, it was only speculation. It did mean that he couldn't deactivate the bloodline.
"Can't deactivate it, Naruto." His voice was softer, more serious in that moment than it had been in the past few. "I can't even access the tenketsu near my eyes." Sorry Naruto, you're stuck with the white Sharingan.

"I know, but Mangekyo does," Naruto hummed thoughtfully as he slightly swung his legs back and forth. Would the Itachi sitting with him have Mangekyo? Somehow Naruto didn't really feel like asking.
He watched Itachi curiously as he attempted to deactivate the Sharingan. It was the only suggestion he could think of and when Itachi announced he could in fact not even deactivate it he couldn't help but feel slightly disheartened. "...Oh," he muttered softly, lacking anything more intelligent to say.
"I guess it's a good thing Zetsu's coming then, huh? He said he knew some medical jutsu so maybe he can help," Naruto finally admitted. He hated the fact there was nothing he could do for Itachi. Hating the fact he was so helpless he had to rely on someone he regarded as an enemy. If only Sakura was here...
