Arriving at Vanaheim [Complete]

Character(s): Kir
Content: Kir's arrival in Paixao
Setting: Vanaheim Gate
Time: Morning?
Warnings: None.

Kir had been putting off approaching the strange gate, yet when it had become obvious that Jing was not among the confused people which milled about outside of it, he had no choice but to continue searching for his missing companion within. So he joined the line which slowly shuffled towards the huge trees (as he got closer, he saw they were fake... how strange!) which led into a huge dome-shaped structure.

The last thing he remembered was he and Jing, plotting their next heist in Caipirinha. The travel was boring and he'd curled up on the wooden crates to sleep, but upon waking he'd found himself here, and Jing nowhere to be found.

The line continued to edge forward as he pondered his situation. Could this all be an elaborate hallucination? After dealing with Campari, he wasn't about to dismiss the possibility. But he began overhearing snatches of conversation from the other people in line, and they all seemed as confused and lost as he was. Could it be that this had happened to all these people? A number of them were expression worry about missing friends and family as well, and Kir didn't believe it could be that much of a coincidence.

Finally he came to the front of the line, and was asked his name. Upon giving it, something was pressed into his hands and he was ushered through the gate. He looked up, noticing that the dome was still visible. He longed to spread his wings, fly up, and check everything out. But alas, his wings were missing in action for the moment -- and his feet, unused to walking, were beginning to ache. He looked for a bench once he'd cleared the crowd, and only then did he take a good look at what he'd been given.

He'd remembered the object being vaguely square before, but now it resembled a large locket with pair of wings embossed into the metal. Uncertainly, he fiddled with it until it clicked it open, and his eyes widened.

"What's this?" He muttered, trying to make unfamiliar fingers cooperate. Instead of the usual place for pictures, there were tiny buttons on one side and a screen on the other.

He spent about 20 minutes playing with it, but all he could do was make it beep occasionally. Frustrated, he closed the clasp and put it around his neck; it hung just out of sight behind his red bandana.
