Dogs, Pigeons & Black cat, originally uploaded by

We've had really heavy rain here in Buenos Aires lately. This week there was
massive flooding over in Palermo, and probably also in Belgrano. Friday's storm was particularly impressive. I happened to be at my parents' place and tried to catch all the leaks that were steadily dripping down in both the living room and the bedroom.

Sunday was quiet and grey. I decided to go for a bike ride around the Ecological reserve park out by Puerto Madero. I put on long pants and shirt and plenty of OFF to keep
the Dengue infected mosquitoes at bay. I rode on the bike route on Rincon to Av Belgrano all the way to the end in Puerto Madero. I rode along the former riverfront boardwalk and down the "jetty" to the entrance of the Ecological Reserve. It was shut. I was looking forward to getting out into nature a bit and didn't mind the drizzle as long as it didn't turn into rain.
Disappointed, I started
taking some photos and then turned around to go back the way I came. The lakes/ponds what-have-you in front of the Ecological Reserve were full of water and birds were making good use of the marsh. I saw some swans and one egret, lots of pigeons (of course), finches and other birds that I can't qualify. One tipa tree was full of noisy green parrots. As I rode down the "river front" I put the bike into a very high gear. This was because I wanted to go slowly. I wanted to prolong and savor the experience. I passed several Chori stands along the way and while they smelled great, I didn't partake. I did stop at some of them to take photos. One was quite funny. There was a black cat hanging out, two young dogs and a flock of pigeons. They were playing comfortably around together. When I reached the end of the route at Cordoba, I turned left and followed the avenue back to my barrio. It was a lovely afternoon, even if drizzly.
